The way i see it Rafa does not want us to ever leave a player in limbo as we did with Barry. Our reputation will soon be f***ed if this happens again. Rafa is asking for control over the budget allocated to him. In otherword when he singles out a player (Barry) as his no 1 target he gets the call as to whether we pay 18M for him or not. Not unreasonable IMO.

Since the two own goals in his first two games last season Sami has been nothing short of outstanding in every game. His level of consistency and professionalism sets down a marker at this club that can only help players like Skrtel, Agger and San jose etc. I really hope we sign him on as a player registered coach next season and keep him in the club.

Sadly that appears to be the case. As we get closer to the "precious" the tension seems to rise. It's self defeating at best mindless at worst. I've come to the conclusion that the advent of sites like "newsnow" (a great source of material) has led to a stream of hits on various sites which naturally increases advertising revenue. The more controversial the story = the more hits. It's getting out of control now when broadsheets (eg the Times) are even playing the game. Not long ago it was only Goal.com and Tribalfootball, now it is a free for all and the stories in the Daily Mail in the past week about us has been a disgrace.

No offence Ant but you are young AFAIK and you seem to think that throwing your toys out of the pram actually achieves anything. As you get older you will eventually learn that "world's best practise" in these matters involve a bit of tact, thought and reason. I do agree though that UEFA are a joke which there are many examples, however the overiding issue here is racism and it does need to be addressed. It's plainly obvious this could of been done better but it only affects Atletico and Liverpool, which I doubt will cause much concern for the w*****s in charge. In fact I think they see this as their chance to make a statement. I wonder what will happen if similar incidents occur at Real Madrid in the near future?

I think we are just touching the surface. Gerrard is now showing how good he can be in different roles consistently for Liverpool, Riera is new, Torres is scoring while playing crap (by his standards!). I think there is a s***load of upside yet in this team.

That's what I think, Lucas isn't cut for the English League IMO.
