Great read about Momo. Nice to see there's a big, big heart inside him.... not that I ever doubted that mind! Momo's help for Mali children Written by Jim Boardman Sunday, 20 May 2007 Link: http://www.anfieldroad.com/news/latest/200...a29183326b.html Liverpool midfielder Momo Sissoko has been talking about his commitment towards improving the lives of the people living in his family's home village. His parents were originally from the village of Bendougou in Mali before they moved to France, and although Momo's never been there before he's been helping out financially since he made it as a player. He sends clothing, shoes and money to help the children of the village and is hoping to go to the village this summer for the first time. Momo told the Sunday People: "It is important that I send what I can and help the children now I can because they have nothing. I have never been there, but I am going for the first time this summer with my brother." He's expecting it to be s moving experience: "I know it will be very emotional for me to meet the children I am trying to help because they are really poor. They send me letters and pictures of themselves; sometimes I speak with the children on the telephone. But to actually be there will be wonderful." The player feels it's vital he does this: "I do this because I want to make a difference. There is so much poverty there. It is important that people like me try to do something that can help them."

LIVERPOOL CLOSING IN ON £20M TEVEZ Sunday May 20,2007 By John Richardson Link: http://www.dailyexpress.co.uk/posts/view/7491 LIVERPOOL boss Rafa Benitez wants to splash a large part of his club?s Champions League cash on West Ham?s controversial striker Carlos Tevez. Benitez believes he holds a powerful bargaining tool ? as Tevez?s former Corinthians and West Ham team-mate Javier Mascherano is already at Anfield. While the row over who actually owns Tevez rumbles on and could still affect the Premiership relegation situation, Benitez is quietly making his move for the brilliant Argentinian. Real Madrid and Inter Milan have also been linked with Tevez but that hasn?t put Benitez off. He has been promised substantial backing this summer from joint American owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks while his side?s amazing run to a second Champions League final in three seasons has helped fill club coffers. Tevez could cost £20million and Liverpool will step up their discreet moves to land him after Wednesday night?s final in Athens against AC Milan. They are ready to wrap up a £12m move for Mascherano and want to make it an Argentine double.

Just read this article.... McAllister gets on his bike By James Mossop, Sunday Telegraph Link: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtm...20/sfnmac20.xml As Liverpool head for the great Athenian adventure, one of their former stars, Gary McAllister, is providing a whole new meaning to the expression 'on yer bike'. He sets off today on a 1,200-mile cycle ride to Spain alongside former England internationals Russell Osman and Tony Dorigo, Scotland's Alan McInally, former Leicester goalkeeper Ian Andrews and various celebrities, all with the drive to raise money for a breast cancer charity. McAllister's wife, Denise, died of the disease last year after he had resigned as Coventry City manager to look after her. When Osman, a former Ipswich Town defender, came up with the idea of the ride from Wembley to the La Manga Club, enthusiasm soared. "Everyone has been touched by people they know who have suffered cancer. It's going to be tough, but it is a fantastic idea. I run 15-20 miles a week, but cycling involves a different set of muscles and riding over the Pyrenees into Spain will be interesting - and hard." advertisement He is managing to take a quick break from it to fly in and out of Athens to see Liverpool try to win the European Cup again and he regards his time at Anfield, where he became a crowd favourite, as a dream. "Looking back is like waking from a fantasy," he said. Today he and the others will do a lap of Wembley Stadium before the Conference play-off final between Morecambe and Exeter before starting their 14-stage run to La Manga, where they plan to arrive on June 2 in time to play in the Lee Addison Footballers Golf Classic. They are hoping to raise in excess of £100,000 for the Boobs (Boys Out On Bikes) charity, with the ultimate aim of pulling in £1m in three years. McAllister does not find cycling easy; Osman loves it but, as the Scot says: "We have been given state-of-the-art bikes by the Giant cycle team and their professionals will be alongside. But these drop handlebars take a bit of getting used to. I was a Chopper lad." Their route will resemble a Tour de France with support vehicles and a television crew as they go through Caen, Alencon, Saumur, Bianzay, Pocheres, Gabarnet and Laruns before reaching their first Spanish stop at Sabinanigo. Then they roll through Zaragoza and four more towns before reaching La Manga. Donations may be sent to Boobs Charitable Trust, BNB Management, Tuition House, 27-37 St George's Road, Wimbledon, SW19 4DS or log on to www.boysoutonbikes.org.

Anbody who knows this lad? From wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrea_Russotto Andrea Russotto (born 25 May 1988 in Rome) is an Italian football (soccer) striker. He currently plays for Treviso, on loan from Bellinzona. In the World U17s tournament in 2005 Russotto was seen by many as one of the best players in the tournament despite Italy's poor showing. In the Euro U17s tournament Russotto was again one of the stars of the tournament scoring the winning goals against Turkey and England and ended top scorer for Italy. Russotto was told to sign a deal with GEA agency when he was in the Lazio youth teams and he if he didn't then he would not get a chance at Lazio, Russotto refused to sign for the agency and was then for no reason sold to Bellinzona. For the next year Russotto fell off the footballing radar but his talent has seen him rise again and while on loan Treviso he has amazed everybody who has watched him with that talent, Comparisons with Barcelona's Lionel Messi are been made due to dribbling ability and pace of his play but many fans of Terviso say they see more of a comparison to his idol and Italian football legend, Roberto Baggio Liverpool have watched the youngster play many times this season as Rafa Benitez looks for a long term replacement for Robbie Fowler, Manchester United, Inter Milan and AS Roma have all been noted as admirers of the talented youngster. His link up play and natural ability on the ball makes him one of the stand out player in Serie B and with a price tag said to be around the 3million euros (£2million)($4million) mark, the above teams would be very interested, as would many other teams.
