Just a thought... what about a front two of Luis and Fowler? Both very intelligent players with great first touches and an eye for a good pass (not to mention goal). Luis losing the ball wouldn't have as much impact after his flicks etc. and with Stevie, Xabi and Harry supplying them we may finally start playing to the teams strengths instead of relying on long balls

Agree. Pennant looks the real deal at the moment, he's quick, not scared to take players on and can put some killer balls in the box. We are desperate for a player to take the responsibility of dead ball deliveries off SG, one because we waste an awful lot of corners etc. but also because we need Stevie in the middle rucking and on the end of the crosses. I wonder if his good display was an attempt to impress his future manager

for f***s sake we need a right winger. Why? are we not doing ok as we are? If Stevie does the job until summer and we make do with Luis, Cisse etc. surely we will have done enough to achieve this seasons objectives. i.e. top four and closer to Chelsea. The Jan transfer window is notorious for not being able to get good players. No matter who we buy - (hopefully a quality player) they will most probably be cup tied, so that would leave the FA Cup and the league, I think we're pretty well equipped at the moment. So why don't we all just calm down, stop playing Champiomship Manager and enjoy one of the best teams we have seen for a decade

Add to that the fact that they packed the midfield and did a good job of closing down, there was only one option for Carra and Sami. The most successful route out of defence was through our full backs and even they were getting closed down quickly. For all the "lack of quality" in their midfield I reckon the way Ferguson had them set up when we had the ball was a tactical victory for him.

I don't think it was as much running out of steam as settling for the draw
