    Kewell

Why sell one of our top players to a team who could be challenging top four this season. You would never see the chavs doing it, regardless of our/their financial position.
  2. Can I point out the world of difference between running wilst controlling a football and running to catch someone trying to control a football
  3. I'm with you Leo, an excellent signing with bags of talent. I think we will be saying what a bargain we got re. JP this time next year. That article re-inforces my belief that he has grown up since his stint at Brum. Good on ya little fella go and do your thang infront of the best and most loyal supporters in the land and don't let yourself down

    Alves

Carson has just signed a new deal with us till 2011
  5. Agreed, also Stevie will be free to get in on corners etc. as he wont be playing all the dead balls in and if Kewell plays more centrally he is also an excellent header of the ball. I recon with the quality coming in from both flanks this season we will see much more action in and around the penalty area.
  6. I sincerely hope Rafa's quotes are from the heart. Not some face saving party line, attempting to show loyalty to the moneymen. If they are his views then all credit to him.
  7. Do you want a lift to the rope shop?
  8. Cant see it. They'll need all the cash they can get for Torres.
  9. ...and could pass...
  10. That would be like putting a rapist in jail, then giving him hookers and pizza every night
  11. Is right. He just looks like he should be working at the tip
  12. Or put a rocket up his a***!
  13. for the time being Owls end Carson chase 2006-06-27 11:42 Sheffield Wednesday manager Paul Sturrock has confirmed that he has ended his pursuit of Liverpool keeper Scott Carson. Sturrock was hoping to secure the services of the Reds ace on loan for the whole of next season after his successful loan spell at Hillsborough at the end of the last campaign The Owls' boss has decided to turn his attention elsewhere after Liverpool said that they were not prepared to make a decision on Wednesday's bid until the end of next month. Reports earlier in the week had also indicated that the Reds would prefer Carson, who is currently on World Cup duty with England, to get experience in the Premiership if he wasn't playing for them next season. Sturrock told the Owls' official website: "We just can't take a chance on waiting and waiting and then finding out a Premiership team comes in for Scott. Then we'll be scrambling for a goalkeeper a week from the start of the season. "I'm disappointed as he was a real benefit to us in the last nine games. We'd like to thank him - he will be an exceptional goalie for England and whichever club he plays for." "We just can't take a chance on waiting and waiting and then finding out a Premiership team comes in for Scott. Then we'll be scrambling for a goalkeeper a week from the start of the season."
  14. I don't know why. It just is. Maybe gaining unfair advantage?? What you're saying is like when Terry blocks opposition players in the box on corners - great and effective if you get away with it, but against the rules. As s**** as the referees are in the prem, the sight of little Luis sitting on Crouchys shoulders in the box is highly likely to be picked up on
  15. With the benefit of hindsight, as frustrating as it was at the time, I think we did all we could to secure some really tasty players. Figo would have been a great signing but the decision was out of our hands. Simao again would have been great but again with hindsight Rafa was right not to be held to randsome. The fact that our manager can get ordinary players to play well above themselves in this team means that big name or big money transfers are not as important as having the right players with the right attitude playing in the right position. Would last seasons activity have been seen as a diaster if we had got either Simao or Figo?
  16. ...or "look what you could have had. Fatty"
  17. Bit of Mirror mischief by the looks of it
  18. Its great until it happens to you Having said that i am an old fart and far too fat. Not the African footballer of the year

    Alves

Cally, you're getting confused cause you beleive there is only a 442 formation. Alves gives us the opportunity to play 352, 4312,451 etc. We struggled to change formations last season because of a lack of quality in certain positions. Alves and Speedy imo are very important to Rafa's masterplan. They give us pace on the wings, they give us the chance to play with three at the back against weaker teams and of course they can also be used as impact subs when we are under the cosh against stronger opposition.
