What a great match and result. The only down side for me was that Xabis free kick didnt go in. Such a sweet strike that made Cech look a right fool. Derserved to go in.
They have 3 days to appeal. Assuming they do and its unsuccessful, it doesn't really give our fans much time to rearrange travel plans. Think this ban will come in after our trip to the Vicente Calderón.
UEFA has announced that Atlético Madrid have to close their ground, the Vicente Calderón Stadium for the next three Champions League matches. It comes after what UEFA considers to be the serious incidents seen in the ground before the game against Olympique de Marseille. The next three Champions League matches will have to be played at least 300 kms away from Madrid. It’s understood that Atlético Madrid are to appeal the sentence Madrid
I have been trying to avoid press coverage of tonights match quite successfully for the last few days. Despite this, I am getting more and more frustrated today with the fact that it should be us in Moscow. How on earth a professional footballer can not have the confidence to swing their weaker foot at a ball is beyond me.
Now that they appear to have lost the league, does anyone think they will just concentrate on the champions league ? It would be possibly to their advantage to rest many first teamers and throw the Everton game so that it puts pressure on us in the league and we are not in a position to rest players against Fulham and Birmingham.
Why are Chelsea playing Everton on the Thursday before the first leg and not on Sat/Sun ? Ironically if they win, they put us in a much stronger position to secure 4th place and therefore enabling a few players to be rested for the match against Fulham Nice to see that they have a Man U between the two legs.
I have been known to do this without totally thinking this through. Occasionally, when asked, I am unable to prove that this action was totally justified. Please accept my apologies. I really must get a life.
