I just can't see Rafa looking to replace Kuyt, he obviously values the terrific effort, workrate and attitude he brings to the team highly - and probably quite rightly so. If we go into next season with Kuyt as "the worst" of the starting first choice 11 it will be no bad thing, he actually contributes far more to the team these days - scoring goals, and he's invented a new way of getting the better of a fullback by just working him to death! Ashley Cole and Evra must hate the sight of his ugly blonde head in paticular! I see Riera as the obvious target for "upgrading" - not forgetting his great goal against Villa he really is of a standard that should see him as back-up or shipped out to keep faith with Babel rather than as 1st choice. If Alonso stays then I'd rather spend £20M on Ashley Young and forget about signing Barry from Villa, on the premise that there's no way they'll sell us both and that even though £10M for Barry potentially represents a good deal, there is no way he would come here knowing he was going to be moved around positionally, and be mainly back up in his favourite position. Young for £20M, sell Riera for £10M. Back-up RB or start playing Darby more, sign Owen for free and pay him £50K p.w. Anyone mentioning my previously undisguised lack of respect for Kuyt please don't - it's painful enough posting this as it is!

Going for a lie down!

You're right it's still the best forum out there. lets leave it as agreeing that its been a brilliant week! Flight - apologies for being rude.
-
You're a t** aren't you? A pompous, self important t**.
-
If you could keep track of who you're falling out with you'd know that I've never listed any websites as evidence of transfer dealings because that wasn't the discussion I was in, can't remember who posted the comment about the Echo disagreeing with your figures but it does. Who produced the list of mistakes you refer to, you or them? And how SIGNIFICANT were the fees brought in for Whitbread, Paletta and Barragan exactly? As for you being sick of abuse, I'm sure that if you stop trying to dish it out you'll stop getting it.
-
I've read Tompkins article and its not bad to be fair if you remember that he's writing from very much one side of the arguement; regarding Benitez's net spend its all dependant on which website you read/choose to believe - the Echo website has it far higher than your little posse do I believe and every time anything that contradicts your mantra gets posted all that gets posted back is "that websites s****, you believe any old b******s" - or Flight gets up pokes his head out of his kennel and tries to do it for you, "Yeah Tim, Thats right Tim". You litter your posts with slights about anyone disagreeing with you being half-witted and so on. You state your opinion of the situation as gospel truth, accuse anyone who doesn't agree with you of being "Anti-Benitez Reds" and really who the f*** do you think is interested in any changes you'd make to the article just to get one more of your snide little digs in? All this crap started because Flight was poting his usual "No-one else in the history of the World has ever, could ever or will ever do as well as Rafa has done here at Liverpool with the resources he has had" line. It was pointed out that Wenger had done as well or better, starting from a lower base and had done it quicker so he was as usual wrong, then all this s**** started and you've continually moved the goalposts to try and make the debate fit your arguement, now its relevant how much Arsenal pay their youth team? How much were Arsenal paying in fees and wages while they were building their ground do you think? Yes Rafa has done well with the budget for fees and wages he's had GENERALLY but not always; Yes he did f*** up last Summer and wasted £40M on not improving the first team one little bit. If he has to struggle along on a pittance as you'd have us believe then how you can claim that getting Riera and Dossena and losing Millions on Keane is good transfer business is f***ing beyond me! As for you being pompous, well its not often everyone agrees with me but this might just be one of those times. I'm done with this now - I'm not Anti Rafa regardless of how it seems on here, but I don't think of him while I'm having sex like you seem to do. And when he's gone which he will be one day, I will still be supporting Liverpool.

Changed my mind, can't be @rsed with this pompous drivel.

At the end of his first season?

So this thread is meant to compare Rafa's record with transfers to the other top clubs in the PL primarily relating to the fact that their wage bill is higher than ours so we must have done better? If you add everything up it doesn't bear thinking about how much we've lost on Pennant, and Keane alone. Also you're taking this years figures and just multiplying them by the 5 years Rafa's been here how do you know thats true? I find it hard to believe that 5 years ago Arsenal were building their new ground, getting 35,000 for home games and still paying £80+M per year on wages. Arsenal sell star players and make big money on them, Anelka, Overmars & Petit etc we don't. United sell squad players and get big money for them, Richardson, Rossi, the Spanish CB at Barca I can't remember, Heinze etc we don't. FWIW I honestly believe that signing Torres alone would negate any bad dealings we may have made.
-
Is that still true after you take into account wages, signing on fees and selling pay-offs as well? Bearing in mind that this thread was started explicitly to factor all the other expenses into player costs as well as actual buying costs?
-
Coming from the most annoying, a*** licking t*** of all is that a compliment? Last season I said that Flamini was all over Alonso which he was, last season Alonso was below par and everyone admits that apart from you apparently while Flamini was outstanding for Arsenal, this season Alonso's raised his game and Flamini made a huge mistake f***ing off to Italy so it's difficult to say who's playing better. We have indeed just raped the mighty Madrid and the only thing I posted was "We were awesome" which we were. It was posted that no-one else could do what Rafa's done with such limited resources and I pointed out that Wenger had done it in the past winning 3 PL titles on the way, nowhere did I say how brilliant he was or how much I would really like to support Arsenal so stop lying! Why is it heresy to admit that there are other great managers/players out there? Malcolm X my s*** has an IQ higher than yours Sonny. Anyway it's off topic, and to think that decent posters have been hounded out by you lot.
-
f*** off whopper, what makes you think you speak for "US"?
-
Wenger built a great team and arguably for nothing when you consider Net spend which is either relevant or not depending on what point is being made; I don't get his current fixation on lightweight, trick happy attacking midfielders and defenders who can't defend either. We've spent relatively big on Torres, Keane and £11M for a teenage Babel. When Wenger paid £11M for Wiltord United were paying nearly £30M for Ferdinand so its still relevant - Wenger has also been forced to sell his best players consistently. And I'm not starting!
-
Wengers done it and won the PL a few times while he was at it.
-
Just a great quote that.
-
We were just awesome.
-
Talking of being monumentally stupid what part of 40 + 25 = 65 are you struggling with exactly? Now is this where you hide behind being the owner and abuse posters to try and show how big you are?
-
Big hole mate, stop digging! RE Parry, he's undoubtedly not up to the job if we want to be one of the biggest, most successful clubs in the world. Got a bad feeling that hicks is getting his way over this which isn't good. The perfect scenario for me would be some cash rich multi-billionaire buying the club and Parry quitting on the same day. Remember he was instrumental in refusing to allow all of the Yanks debts being loaded on the club.
-
How the f*** do you know what "Clueless t***s stupidly assume"? the post said Rafa could have done better with the £40M he spent on players this Summer, he did spend £40M and he could have done better with it - as was said at the time. It does my head in sometimes when clueless t***s stupidly assume that others on here won't realise they've missed out 2/3 of the players purchased and their fees to try and make their point stand up. If Rafa had £40M as a starting figure + £25M from sales and he spent it all then he would have spent £65M, do you see how it works?
-
I'm laughing at you trying to blame Rick Parry for Uniteds continued success, it's really funny.
-
You sure know a lot about whats going on with our owners and manager. Maybe a US bank will refinance them with some of the $800 billion their government is pumping into the banking system?
-
There's a little group of you somewhere taking it in turns to be complete whoppers isn't there? Yes Rafa bought 13 of them, thats not the f***ing point he made if you bother to read before swallowing your own foot! I imagine the 'cull' as it is referred to was meant to not only rid this site of some of its more interesting and informed posters but to try and raise the level of discussion above the f***ing playground?
-
So in actual fact we did indeed spend £40M+ on players this Summer as said? Net figure is irrelevant.
-
So our squad isn't good enough to easily finish in the top 4, it's only Rafa's brilliance that makes it happen? Reina, Arbeloa, Carra, Agger, Hyppia, Skrtel, Insua, Aurelio, Alonso, Masch, Gerrard, Kuyt, Babel, Riera, Yossi, Torres isn't good enough to GUARANTEE top 4 finishes every year??????? You're either delusional, thick as s*** or taking the piss.
