    Gareth Barry

It's all academic anyway imho! Without the sale of Alonso there is'nt the money available, apparently,to sign Barry anyway. I'm a bit concerned about Alonso too..other clubs dont see his valuation anywhere near Rafa's so it looks likes he'll be staying..so what effect will us hawking him in the summer have on the player? Anyway, the title of this thread looks in need of a radical amendment!

    Gareth Barry

I'm beginning to wonder if Rafa is now resigned to Alonso staying at Liverpool and ready to allow Barry to drift away..after all,he can legitimately leave MON to take the blame for his intransigence in the affair. This way Rafa has the money still available to spend on Keane?
  3. What did us far more harm were all the draws in games we should have won easily against inferior sides.Over cautiousness cost us imho and I hope next season,we discover how to play with more bravery and courage and belief in the League rather than fear of losing.
  4. Sorry mate,'fraid you've lost me there.
  5. I know they do but this guy did at least appear to have the courage to face us which is more than can be said for Hicks sr. Dont get me wrong though,I'm utterly sick of this whole takeover affair and the kidology that's gone with it and if it helps make their mind up to sell out, then it might have been for the good!
  6. Charming! Hitting people! the answer to everything!
  7. I've never thought he was world class tbh! He does'nt have as much in his locker as Hargreaves or Carrick for example..what he can do is tackle but that's it imho! Didi was better than him because he had a decent range of passing as well but Mascherano offers nothing at all in that respect. £17m ? Would rather spend that on a decent wide man.
  8. I was disappointed when DIC did'nt complete in the first place because of the wealth they possess as opposed to G&H's borrowings and their apparent superior knowledge of the club and football in general. Nothing's changed for me..I hope DIC come back in soon!

I'm a bit late in saying this but you are spot on with your assessment imho!

    A Few questions

I must have watched a different game..ref or no ref,Reading were more up for the game and more organised than we were and actually could have won 4-1 with that late chance! Bad result which will surely come back to bite us later on.
  11. Reading were much more up for this game than our lads who seemed befuddled by the formation they were asked to play.Rafa lost us this imho because he,yet again, complicated his tactics instead of sticking with the formation we had been playing well with. Overall,I thought we were awful on the night against a team which can be rated as no more than mediocre and who had drawn at home with 'Boro last week!!

    big sammi

Sami's a Liverpool legend! It's never been his pace but his reading of the game that's been his thing.Thank Heaven we have him again this season!
  13. If we dont beat Besiktas on Tuesday,we might see your suggestion become reality. Only remaining in the CL would go anuwhere near justifying Rafa's rotation policy. Furthermore, although not getting to the next stages of the CL would be a disaster inthe short term,it might give us our best hope of challenging in the League this season. One thing is certain though,we have to qualify for the CL this time again (for next season)otherwise not only will the rotation be out of the door,it will be quickly followed by Mr Benitez.
  14. I agree fully with your comments. Ordinarily,a draw today might have been a reasonable result but in our position having already drawn four due to negative approach to the games,it's a bad result..we needed to pull something out of the fire today but instead wasted the first sixty minutes of the game with our fearful mindset. The 'still unbeaten' tag is not worth that much really when you consider that five draws equals five points and ten points lost! We dont even resemble serious title challengers at the present time imho.
  15. I'd agree with all that except for Lucas..I thought he looked lightweight even against tonight's opposition.I've seen him quite afew times now and have yet to see anything inspiring about him.Perhaps I'm missing something? The big disappointment though is Leto.I've seen him in the reserves and he's looked excellent but tonight,he did'nt want to know when the tackles kept flying in and any 50-50 ball was not going to be his! As for Benny, the lad's brilliant at times and just as good at unlocking defences as Garcia was imho.An excellent signing.
  16. I'm not sure how long Xabi would need to heal tbh but was'nt Cahill out with the same injury from way before Xabi's and he's only just coming back now?

    Voronin

That's the big problem with Kuyt..he's hardly ever where he should be as a striker. It's infuriating seeing him so deep..last night Voronin took a throw in deep in their half to Kuyt and there was nobody in the box! These were our two strikers for goodness sake. What I dont know is whether Kuyt plays the way he does off his own bat OR is he TOLD to play that way?
  18. I've always said that we wont win the league unless we are out of the CL and can concentrate fully on the Title. However,I now dont think we'll win the league anyway because we are simply not in the same street as the Mancs and Arsenal or even Chelsea. In fact, the way things are,we might struggle against City as well! We do not even look like a team capable of winning the League under Rafa I'm afraid.
  19. You can't blame Sami for this debacle mate! It's our inability to get back into the game and put Besiktas to the sword that's the problem! We can't even pass the f****** ball to a red shirt and the movement is non-existent! Not long ago we were treated to the spectacle of Voronin taking a throw-in deep into their half to KUYT! These are our two strikers ffs..there was not a soul in the box!

    The Derby

Problem is that we rotate en masse instead of a couple of players here and there, hence players get to the stage where they are not really playing for their place any more! As for Torres playing in the Carling Cup but rested for the league,I've never been able to come up with a logical reason for that! Please dont somebody tell me again that he was benched for the Brum game because his speed would have been negated by their deep lying defence!
  21. A couple of months ago I would have disagreed with the article but I've done a complete u-turn after recent performances with SG in the middle. Now I've seen both sides of the coin I'd prefer him back on the right because our better displays have been either when he's out altogether OR he's on the right!
  22. I agree with you..time and again small bands here and there in the Kop seemed to try to start songs on Sunday but it invariably fizzled out. I sit Upper Cent so have no room to talk of course but Spurs fans somewhat emabarrassed ours at times." Where's yer famous atmosphere" they sang ffs!

    Have to say

I went to the game and have also watched again highlights on Football First! Have to say we looked better on the telly than we did in reality..I thought, generally,Torres had a mediocre game apart from scoring in injury time, but he looked good on TV! The bits they missed out on the TV must make grim viewing.
  24. I really thought early in the season that we had a chance at the title but we looked so clueless in the last few matches that I dont now think we have any chance tbh! The passing, movement and cohesion is non existant.Do these players actually 'play' together in training or do they train individually?
