Irks me that people keep trying to compare what Milner said with what Sturridge said. Milner - "Everyone knows I prefer to play in the centre, but I'm happy to do a job for the team wherever I need to" Sturridge - "Well I have to do a job for the team - that's not saying I'm happy to do it" Light years apart. Anyone saying we should sell him is bonkers, but he's being a bit of a bell complaining 2 matches into the season.

Asked whether he was happy playing out wide, Sturridge replied: “Well, I have to do a job for the team. That’s not saying I am happy to do it. That’s saying I have got to do a job for the team. It’s a team game. If I am put in that position, I have to play there.”

He looked disinterested as f*** in his post-match interview last night. Q: "You came off the bench to score two, must feel nice?" A: "Yeah it was nice to score, it's always nice to score, but of course you want to play as well, so it's one of those"

That's a bit harsh, but he certainly isn't anywhere near his best right now.

Yeah but it shouldn't though, should it? Klopp has said on multiple occasions that when they analyse matches/discuss game plans, they omit the goals themselves. That goals change scorelines but don't have to change gameplans.

He's a lad who has prior when it comes to throwing his toys out of the pram when he's not 1st choice. Possible that Klopp has told him that he's not going to be 1st choice when he's fit, and that he needs to improve on x/y/z and fight his way into the team, at which point Mama has said 'feck that'

This was my first thought too - surely the Club were communicating with the agent on this rather than directly with Allen while he was on holiday? Would imagine that it's often handled this way too, it's no different than it is in the real world when people are sacked/laid off/etc.

One of my favourite things about you is that you word questions with bits of fiction, making it sound like said fiction is well-established fact. I think Klopp wanted Chilwell at 7 million, but didn't want him at 10 million. Pretty understandable, and not the first manager to change his mind because valuations didn't align. Moreno started yesterday because he's our only LB. Klopp made the comment in January and again a couple of weeks ago that it's all well and good saying "let's buy players because we're short in a position", but when those players come back from injury you have too many players. I think he sees Gomez as competition for Moreno, and I think that's smart. You watch Klopp after the match yesterday when he greets Moreno on the pitch. He doesn't greet him like a player who he doesn't want, he greets him like a player he wants to improve and believes in.

I mostly think this too, but also think Bobby's clever movement and vision will run inexperienced CBs ragged.

Stopped reading in the 2nd para when he said "...defence has been largely ignored" - we signed 2 CBs, a (probably) first-choice keeper, and a backup keeper. Over half of our signings this summer have been defensive players.
