Yeah this wasn't my argument - the OP said we'd never finish in the top 4 with Skrtel. We have. Twice. Don't really understand what you're arguing for.

No they don't. Finishing 2nd, 12th, 18th, 18th doesn't show that someone isn't top 4 quality, because clearly he finished in the top 4.

You're right, everyone was playing out of their skin and poor Allen was going through what was probably his roughest patch for us.

Exactly. Not to mention that we were on a run of thrashing everything in front of us. Easy to look back and say we should have been more defensive, but if we had been and still lost then people would have been going mental.

Have a feeling you could be right, I've seen that 4-1-4-1 when we don't have the ball a lot during preseason. I'm hoping you're wrong though, as teams are going to cut right through the gaps between CB and FB just like they did last year.

I just don't get this. Charlie Adam is the best example of it. When the rumours were out that we were after him, I thought "what the f***?!" When we signed him, I started imaging him smashing in goals from 30 yards out and dropping corners on Andy Carroll's noggin at the Kop end every other weekend. He's a new signing, get f***ing excited or stop watching footy. Sure he may end up being s***, but might as well be optimistic while we can.
