  1. Tell that to Sessegnon. (Just for HP that one! :D)
  2. That’s incredibly generous of you Dave, but that’s really not fair on you. Especially given all the other stuff you do to keep this place up and running. I think we should all band together to make sure Dave is reimbursed here. I had signed up for the monthly ongoing contribution option, but I’m going to send you another one off payment now towards that too. It’s a privilege to have this place and no one person should have to carry the financial costs for a platform we all benefit from. Thank you Dave.
  3. But if he isn’t then who is? Really difficult to think of players who would be guaranteed starters ahead of what we already have. You’re talking about Messi or maybe Mbappe really.
  4. Said this before but you can’t just suddenly decide it’s ok to spend money now and expect to get the players we want. It doesn’t work like that. Players good enough for us are limited. Potentially world class prospects who would ‘prefer’ to come to us are rarer still. We’re not the only attractive option in the world and we’re in danger of missing the pool of suitable players who will be available this summer. Our line last summer is that we’re only interested in spending big on ‘transformers’. Given what a top class additional attacker does for us in terms of allowing for more rotation, keeping us more competitive in the cups etc, if Sancho isn’t a ‘transformer’ I’m not sure what player is at this stage.

  6. I don’t think that is silly money to be honest. Beyond our reach by the look of things yes, but he’s worth that. If he was going to Real Madrid or PSG for those kinda sums no one would question it.
  7. Just read one report one this which said 10 Premier League clubs opposed the deal, but the only 2 named were Liverpool and Tottenham. Wonder why these two clubs were identified?
  8. Underrepresented gifs should be a thing.
  9. Well let’s see... £60m on Cancelo £52m on Mendy £53m on Walker £26.5m on Danilo £10.8m for Angelino That’s just over £202m on fullbacks alone.
  10. It’s been briefed that Chilwell wants to go to Chelsea. It’s also been suggested City balked at Leicester’s £75m price tag.
  11. As well as Koulibaly they’ve also been linked with Inter Milan’s Skriniar, Diego Costa from Sevilla and Lille’s Gabriel Magalhaes. They also want a left back.
  12. Will be interesting see if Ake is the last defender signed by City this summer.
  13. There have been plenty of other clubs interested in him apparently, including us. Valencia being broke or not, that’s a ridiculously low price even in a buyer’s market.
  14. Any further details you can share?
  15. As in clubs trying to sign Edwards?
  16. For £21m for a player previously being put in the €80m bracket. I’m sure that’s all completely above board given City’s exemplary record and is in no way artificially deflated to allow for further purchases this summer that will show a clean FFP bill of health.
  17. I don’t really agree with these points. Spending isn’t just like turning on a tap, you have to put the groundwork in first to get these players over the line. There are also a limited number of players who are good enough for us at this point and some of the better options look like they are/ were available this summer. There is a cost to not acting when opportunity arises. Our appeal could also drop a bit by next summer if we were to get a significant injury for instance and that allowed the chasing pack to catch up. Not saying we wouldn’t still be a massive draw but perhaps our advantage could be diminished in those circumstances. We were also told that potential signings wanted to know how long Klopp would remain with us which was one of the reasons why he extended his contract. Unless that was solely for Minamino’s benefit that’s another year gone. I’m also not sure how those who spend loads would suffer in this scenario. Chelsea seem to be after Chilwell, a centre back and a goalie to go with Werner, Havertz and Ziyech. Yes they’ll sell some players but that doesn’t strike me as the actions of a club concerned about FFP.
  18. Wouldn’t that just put an ageing, slow defender in an already porous defence? [Suddenly remembers Moreno] Actually carry on.
  19. I take the point about the substantial drop in revenue but there’s always wiggle room. I’m sure if we had to sign a player - for example in the event one of our big players picked up a bad injury - then funds would be found. Which is why I can’t get my head around us not being in for Sancho. I think regardless of circumstances, if there’s a generational talent available who is interested in your club, then you should be doing everything you can to sign him. Not like we’ll be able to sign him next summer if he signs for the Mancs.
  20. Latest suggestion on outgoings is: Origi Shaqiri Wilson Karius Gruijic Woodburn (possibly on loan) Larouci
  21. As much as I’d like your theory to be true, isn’t the real thrust of that article ‘Manchester United always pay the asking price in the end’? Sammya seems to have a bit of insight on this one. Surely if we are going down the whole ‘wait for us’ route then we’d be in Sancho’s ear a bit more than we seem to be.
  22. But in real terms that means asking players to ignore financially lucrative offers in the hope they may get a similar offer towards the end of the window/ next summer from us. Generally you need to woo players too, put in the groundwork, take them to Blackpool etc. In Sancho’s case our public pitch does seem to be ‘wait a year and we’ll be ready’ but reading what sammya said I wonder if we’re even really doing that much.
  23. I was afraid you might say that. He does look some prospect alright. Can’t believe we’re just going to let them get Sancho too. Well, I do believe it I just can’t understand it.
  24. And there are reports today that Havertz has told Leverkusen to get the deal done before they play Rangers next week.
  25. Maldini, you’re a very knowledgeable sort when it comes to young players. Beyond Mbappe or Sancho are there any other young, potential worldies of note out there? I keep thinking about the line we’ve previously put out there about ‘wanting to sign the next Mbappes’ etc.
