  1. This was reported as a solid link at the start of the window or whatever. It just looks like a definite one for us. He’s young too so wouldn’t take up one of those 17 non English trained spots.
  2. Can we bid now?
  3. And wasn’t it posted here too that his injuries are down to a lack of proper physical training at Barcelona? It certainly rang true. It was also reported we were in for him the day news about us having Fekir ‘lined up’ broke in the French media, which was around the CL semi against Roma if I remember correctly. That said, Sport is Barcelona’s version of the Echo so they are probably just looking to see if there are any buyers and using our alleged link to drum up buyers.
  4. There is no way Jota is the last attacking signing if Divock and Brewster are off. I suspect we’re just waiting for Watford to climb down from their demands. However like others I think there are better wide options available than Sarr in that suggested transfer fee range.
  5. I know this doesn’t really mean anything, but Sancho has ‘liked’ the Thiago signing for Liverpool picture on Instagram.
  6. I think we liked Werner and we really wanted him last summer, when he only had eyes for Bayern. But we just were open to the idea this season and he was less of a priority.
  7. Who was it that predicted Alli as the young player Mourinho would throw under the bus at Spurs? I’m going to say Cobs.
  8. Mbappé, Mahrez and Laporte all tested positive for Covid-19. Quite worried we’re exposed if players in certain positions test positive. If one of our front 3 or a centre back is diagnosed - potentially coupled with usual injury possibilities - I think it could affect us and cost points. It’s a risk going into this season in particular lacking sufficient cover.
  9. Yeah. It’s also not anything new. As far as I can see this has been the blare of transfer commentary on social since it’s inception.
  10. Read this story just before coming into this thread and that’s precisely what I was thinking. The fee seems to be pitched quite low (particularly given the way we operate). I can only think that’s because of the buy back clause being inserted. Also notable that the clubs being linked don’t include Tottenham. Who were previously interested. You’d imagine that because they won’t accept such a deal or cos we don’t want him going there. Do you think they’d take the injury risk with ‘assets’ they are about to move on? I think we are experiencing a difficult sales market and so our approach has gotten ‘more creative’. Hence we’re now looking at cashing out on players who weren’t part of our original transfer list.
  11. We will miss Gini when he goes. Not just for what he offers the team, none of the rest of our midfielders are as good at the transitions or at being press resistant (although hopefully Thiago will be, albeit in a different way). We’ll also miss the ability to call upon a highly consistent performer in our midfield who is rarely injured and therefore always available for selection. The same can’t be said for Ox or Keita - doesn’t look like Thiago is as injury free either.
  12. I think it is rather convenient that it’s being made out Gini wants to leave. Gini’s side seem to be briefing that he wants to stay but negotiations to extend his contract are yet to take place. Seems to me like it suits us (financially) to offload him and paint it as though we had no choice, only a year left etc. Bear in mind very recently we were saying we were confident a deal would be done or we’d just let him run his contract down. They’re trying to make a virtue out of selling a first teamer in order to buy.
  13. That was Steve Finnan
  14. Especially when we were previously suggesting we’d keep him and let his contract run down unless we got a ‘substantial’ offer. I really want us to sign Thiago but I think selling Gini is a mistake. I think he’s our most consistent, yet underrated midfielder. The work he does and the role he plays in our transitions don’t get anywhere near enough appreciation.
  15. He only wanted to move to Juventus a week ago (supposedly). If we wanted him - and there has been a lot of suggestions that we do - and let him go to Arsenal (who are in a much worse financial position than we are) then that would be bizarre.
  16. Everton May have agreed a fee for Allan, per reports from Italy. While I hate to admit it, that’s a good signing. He was being linked with a move to PSG for most of last season. Has played consistently well against us too.
  17. ‘Reports from Spain’ suggesting Mane got the hump with the club last summer as we wouldn’t facilitate a move to Real Madrid. Personally I reckon that may have happened the summer before, not last summer. Anyway this is being reported in the context that Barcelona might be after Mane if they sold Messi. Tentative figure of €120m (£107m) being suggested. If it comes to that I do think Mane might agitate and we will need a lot more than that for him given how much it’s going to cost to replace him.

  21. I know we’ve been persistently linked, but so have Man City and Juventus. I had thought he was a player we were targeting for this summer but then we announced our frugality strategy.
  22. After him and Joao Felix and Martinez from Inter and a left back
  23. After signing Torres and Ake, City want 4 more signings. Another centre back, a left back, a replacement for Silva and an eventual replacement for Aguero. Piece on Sky saying Koulibaly main target for centre back, Martinez as the forward and they enquired about Joao Felix to replace Silva.
  24. Just as an aside, and this isn’t aimed at any one post in particular, but can we please stop saying we should use our midfielders at centre half. We shouldn’t. That is all.
  25. His agent is also an Arsenal fan.
