  2. Didn't he always have a tattoo of Mussolini or something though? Not like he hid the fact he was a facist sympathiser when he was in England, just none of the media ever held him to account on it.
  3. Adriano - injury time winner for Inter.
  4. Was saying the same thing earlier John, unreal. Posts merged: Couldn't figure that out either - it was actually quite surreal.
  5. And yet practically everyone on this forum has us figured, think that says it all about the standard of football analysis out there.
  6. In answer to the original question, I think our next 6 games are going to effectively either bring us together or cause major, major splits in the ranks of LFC supporters. Do well and everything will be sweetness and light. Do badly then I think I'm going to be staying well clear of this forum. Those next six fixtures are (I think): Spurs Away Betis Away (CL) Manchester United Home Birmingham Away Chelsea Home (CL) Chelsea Home That's not going to be an easy lot to come through unblemished. My point being I think as LFC fans we might want to strap ourselves in over the next month or so cos we're in for a bumpy ride.
  7. Not directly, but it's clear the media have been well briefed on this subject from the club and the message to the fans and to Real has been "we won't pay more for him than the figure we received". We won't want to look to have egg on our faces now if we do bid more than that. I'd just take any media reports about a deal (if it comes off) with a large pinch of salt.
  8. Ok given how many times we've said in the media that we won't pay more than we received for him, I think it's worth bearing in mind that regardless of what the actual deal is (if it comes off), it will probably be reported as being around £8-10 million.
  9. Well it is dependent on us not securing a deal for Owen in time. I personally believe that Owen is desperate to get back to England for personal reasons as much as anything. In that way I don't really blame him for keeping his options open (Mancs aside). However if this deal doesn't come off now I think it will be because we've left it too late to play our hand, and I've never been a fan of brinkmanship in the first place when it comes to football clubs. If it comes off, along with the other possible deals, then great. However I'm becoming increasingly negative about the way the club is handling things at the moment.
  10. Reading between the lines Newcastle seem to have only become an option for Owen since talking to Sven the other day. I guess he must have asked if he'd lose his place if he stayed in Madrid til January and was on the bench. Personally I'll be very disillusioned with the powers that be at the club if this transfer doesn't come off now... and I say that as someone who has defended them a lot.
  11. To be fair, I don't think you needed too much of a push really did you?
  12. That's his "It's in the bag" smug look isn't it?
  13. I'm far from being an expert on Newcastle's finances but they will sell Jenas for £8million if they get other players in. There were a couple of newspaper reports this morning that said they would be bidding for both. Given how Freddy Shepard likes to tell the media about it when it goes for a piss, I wouldn't be surprised if he was briefing them.
  14. I think they said they would be bidding for both.
  15. Has anyone else been getting deja vue in this thread or is it just me?
  16. We're buying Michael Owen and selling him to Newcastle as Rafa realises he can make a fast buck. He'll then spend that money on Koller and some teenage centrebacks.
  17. True but if he was banging them in no one would be talking about his phyiscal aggression. Don't think he has that in him really.
  18. His passing is off but other than that I don't think he's doing too much wrong. He is possibly one of the best attacking headers in world football and needs crosses to thrive on that. Let him get a few goals under his belt and then we'll see what he's made of.
  19. That kind of talk is hardly going to help! I may have to revise my prediction.
  20. Next Wed??? I predict forum meltdown by Monday at the latest. :dynamite:
  21. RiH, I saw your name in italics ages ago and I've been waiting for that post since. Mate, seriously, you should post more often, we could do with your quality on the forum.
  22. Oh ok. Thanks!
  23. Where did that come from?
  24. How so? He'll look even better in a poor team. Really think that's way off the mark.
