  1. Parry is obviously looking to get a new open top bus to accomodate all the star names that will be going on future parades through Liverpool City Centre.
  2. Course he is... we've all seen the tache he's grown (or tried to grow)
  3. In fairness Kev, while I'm still a bit skeptical about whether we will get investment (there have been a lot of false dawns), if a Bascombe article had appeared that was critical of the issue you'd be using it as evidence so I think it's fair enough for those on the other side of the debate to do likewise.
  4. Probably but that doesn't stop Neville from hiding from our lot does it
  5. Think Bascombe is overstating Rafa's dealings with Real and Inter in that article though... comes across as though he's trying to cover his own ass - "I was right, honest I was".
  6. Shhhhhh, people will be calling me an Irish Red now.... no greater insult in the LFC vocabulary.
  7. I agree with OM, if someone sings the Munich version then it's a Munich song. If they sing the original then it isn't. Simple really. I have to say, reading the lyrics posted I do think I have heard that sung at some point. And I only get over a couple of times a season. That said it's more likely I heard some Irish Reds singing it in a bar in Dublin or sommat.
  8. Just as well you got this in before I read this thread Coyler sees red cards that no one else does apparently.
  9. Far too early Jonesy, far too early!!! But I'm telling ya it was in his eyes.
  10. Saw a quick clip of Morientes celebrations on Sky News and it looked to me he just didn't want to celebrate at all rather than a snub of Cisse... just got the impression that he was annoyed with himself or something. That said, it was a very, very quick clip.
  11. Agree with you on all of that. All very boring really. I would rather have Johnson than Defoe but then I just hope that if we were to go for him then it would be in the 3rd choice striker position, because if we only sign him and A.N.Other forward I think we'll still be short up front next season. Having said that, a Johnson-Crouchy partnership could work, but I just wouldn't like the thought of relying on it.
  12. Funny how you don't get that with our ex-players though. Don't think I've ever heard Finnan being called the best right back in the league, despite the fact that he's the best in Europe at the moment.
  13. I agree with you on practically all of that. I take your point about Fowler and Johnson being poles apart but I think they would effectively take up the same role in the side. Can't see much point in having Robbie if we have Johnson - they don't really offer much apart from their goal scoring threat (and left wing crosses against Leeds).
  14. I agree we two (maybe three) forwards, but think we should be aiming higher than Johnson for the second of these. I don't see the point of signing Johnson and keeping Fowler to be honest as I think they would fill more or less the same role.
  15. God yeah, only four more seasons to go!
  16. Tomorrow's story: Rafa Benitez was last night forced to sign a new contract with Liverpool after the two other clubs he was linked with turned their back on him. The contract announcement follows Inter Milan's declaration that they will stick with Mancini next season while Real Madrid had turned their attentions to AC Milan's Carlo Ancelotti. These various movements left the Spanish tactician with little choice but to sign for struggling Liverpool, etc, etc.
  17. Salary certainly, but I'm not too sure on the fee. Rumours are that Ronaldo is available for £10million while the rumoured price for Defoe was £12million. I doubt Ronaldo would ever adapt to the Premiership as such but he'll still bang the goals in in the meantime. I can see why Defoe would be the sensible signing, I just think he's overvalued and overrated. However Owen would still be my first choice in the 'poacher' role.
  18. Why is it suddenly being suggested that Owen is a no no? Given the figures being bandied about for Defoe if we can't get Owen then I'd go for Ronaldo.
  19. I was hoping for my slice of the 'change a word, get a third' action that seems to be going on
  20. he plays with passion maybe? I really hope these songs get adopted as the last time we had a great, camp song for a player (ie Fernando) that got dropped look how it effected the player involved.
  21. Dependent on finances and outgoings I could see us signing Pennant and a 'BiGgEr NaMe' RM, as well as two strikers... if we are doing all our other dealings on the cheap as seems to be the case (ie Aurelio, Gonzalez, etc)
  22. (That was actually quite good!!!)
  23. A depressing striker speculation thread even! Know your striker speculation threads sonny!
