don't know too much about him, other than what i've mentioned. i guess his public profile isn't great, which makes me wary of him. i'm all for big investment in the club, but not at any cost.
to shoot off at a tangent i was on an old machine at work last night and happened to click on the old link for this site. here it is: http://www.ynwa.info/ i'm not sure if it was entirely related but around the same time i saw that, i couldn't get the thought 'chip on shoulder' out of my mind.
you may be right - who can say? i reckon it's not beyond the realms of possibility that it is significantly less than what they paid because they had to act quite quickly at the end of that transfer window and they knew there was interest on our part to buy him. this was more than just a run of the mill signing. the fanfare surrounding owen's arrival suggested that this was as much about sending a message to the fans that newcastle are still 'a BiG cLUb' as it was about strengthening their squad. so they may have cut a few corners and sacrificed a bit of business acumen to secure that 'wow' factor.
i'll bet owen has an escape clause. quite probably for less than the barcodes paid for him and almost certainly triggerable if they don't qualify for european competition.
