  10. it'll be interesting to see what kind of a side pardew fields on wednesday. methinks he may try a little bit of gamesmanship by picking a 'weaker' team to give Rafa as little insight as possible into how they will cope with us on the big day.
  11. yeah, don't think i could bear to find myself stuck in a chelsea/man u/arsenal gloat-fest. it's bad enough on here at times when we get a good result
  12. hear hear. i reckon he's got a great temperament on the pitch and can make things happen when the rest of his team can be off the boil. he may be a bit cocky at times, but he doesn't come close to the smugness of lumpard, terry or moronho.
  13. i registered for redcafe to get a bit of inside info on man u itself and to do a bit of lighthearted winding-up. i soon abandonned the notion when i realised what a palaver it was to even get on to their main boards. i reckon the reason why there are more than a few non-LFC fans on this site is because generally, there is a good level of discussion. i guess most of the 'visitors' don't actually spend much time on the LFC forum anyway.

  16. there's plenty of room for abuse, goading and maintaining rivalries whilst maintaining a tribal identity. if we were to find out (god forbid) that someone died of a heart attack brought on by the smashing up, would you still hold the same view?
  17. it's just distaste at things being taken too far. coupled with some degree of disbelief that such a contentious match was held at that time of day at that venue. saying 'it happens elsewhere, get over it' doesn't address the issue in full. and let's not forget it took some time for the cups of s*** story to hit the papers. i can see your point anny, and at least you've got the decency to own up to crossing the mark yourself, but i think you're wrong to knock anyone for speaking out against it.
  18. i think you're naive if you don't reckon this will make the news at some stage. and there's a difference between indignation and disgust. i doubt many of us are surprised by the vandalism, doesn't mean we can't distance ourselves from it.
  19. no harm to you, anny, but i find that rather lazy. seems like you're saying 'if you're complaining about the damage some of our fans caused, you need to wise up and put it down to high jinks'. i suspect you may be misjudging the sentiments behind much of the criticism. can't speak for others here, but i'm not indignant, i'm not naive and i'm not self righteous. i find it very disappointing that a group of our fans resorted to such a base level of behaviour. i reckon it was a daft decision to allow the match to be played under those circumstances, at that time of day and there was an inevitability about much of it. i don't enjoy LFC fans getting an unfair reputation, based on incidents like this, and it pisses me off when all our fans are tarred with the same brush because of the actions of a small minority. our fans can be the pride of english football, as witnessed in istanbul or at the end of the benfica home match. i'd prefer that a few pissed-up vandals don't give the likes of the tabloids more fuel with which to scorch our reputation.
  20. dunno. i didn't get it off the internet. wouldn't surprise me either way.
  21. i bet any one of us criticising those actions could've predicted it. doesn't mean we have to just accept it without registering our distaste
  22. for some reason the phrase 'if yer auntie had balls, she'd be yer uncle' comes to mind. given moronho's petty 'i wish LFC well in their champions' league qualifier', i somehow find it hard to believe that he'd make it easy for us to snap up one of his rejects - despite someone recently mentioning that at board level, the clubs have a healthy working relationship.
  23. aye, well said. i hope players remember next season when it comes to nominating again the fact that their fellow professionals at chelsea held them in such contempt when ripping up their forms.
  24. i can turn a blind eye to graffiti and superficial damage, but smashing up toilets and ripping out seats shows little regard for fellow LFC fans or the club we're all supposed to support. there's plenty of room for rivalry and goading without descending into yob mob rule.
  25. i'd say it doesn't make any odds either way. there's still three chelsea players in the top six - and rooney seems to have split the vote between the two categories. i wonder how much of it is a popularity contest too - personality-wise, i mean.
