They're dithering and penny pinching again. Knowing them they're also sizing up whether they can get away with it with the fanbase by painting him as greedy or not wanting to stay.
We've now had Virgil, Salah, Ali and Trent all say they want to stay, with none of them having been offered anything at all by the sounds of it.
With Virgil and Salah they have the get out of their age and demands. With Trent it isn't quite that easy, they need to pay him market rate and recognise his importance to the club. Maybe they don't view him as irreplaceable or worth what he's asking. But it's up to them to own that.
