  1. Never captain material, completely agree. I didn’t know about the training videos. I vaguely remember him saying his brother had to give up football because his mum couldn’t afford to support both of them. That kind of family guilt might be the driver here, people are complicated, even the easily swayed ones. That doesn’t excuse being a k****ead and some of the performances this season. Watch him do a Gerrard now he’s got his offer and stay. I never really loved him after the Chelsea thing either!
  2. But then there was Man Utd…
  3. Nah, he was a good kid. Think it’s gone to his head a bit and he’s been easily swayed. Will regret it the rest of his life probably.
  4. Honestly I don’t feel that bothered. Just makes me think he’s a k****ead. Which I have for most of this season anyway.
  5. He might get the hump that we’re like ‘See you then’ and decide to stay.
  6. We definitely need someone a bit thuggy in midfield, and preferably a unit with it. Any 6ft 3 centre mids out there with boss skills?
  7. The worry is the number of ins we're going to need. VVD, Salah, Trent, Nunez, Jota could all go. Konate and Diaz possible. That's at least 6 first team starters. That kind of surgery means yet again we fail to capitalise on a title win and take two steps backward unless the business we do is absolutely perfect. Keeping Virgil and Mo makes that a lot less drastic. I've got concerns about Mo's legs going but a two year contract makes it worth the risk. I'd pay Virgil whatever he wants. He's got 3 years at the top level left in him am sure, and with a really quick reliable partner maybe even longer. Maybe if Virgil goes Trent stays to be captain, but I don't think that's the right way forward.
  8. If our sports science is any good, Slot will have known that was coming, he's not stupid. Keep coming back to the lack of effort in the summer (and Jan) in the transfer market, and that isn't on the 'head coach'. If he doesn't trust the fringe players, they needed to have at least tried to remedy that. He should be throwing his weight around this morning if that's the case, because that performance yesterday was inexcusable.
  9. Waking up here and the overall feeling is confusion. That was absolutely dreadful and the only reasonable explanation is they were exhausted before they kicked off. But even that doesn’t really explain it.
  10. I really hope so mate. Nothing I'd like more than to be proved mental on this.
  11. Honestly don't think Chiesa is the answer. He looks like his best days are behind him. Morientes springs to mind.
  12. f***ing about with those contracts is a disgrace as well.
  13. Slot has worked wonders this season. We all knew Nunez wasn't up to it last season and the owners decided to double down. And they didn't strengthen us at all in the last three windows. We've not got the squad to compete on all fronts and that's on the owners.
  14. There was loads of talk that we were playing like we were to save legs earlier in the season. But not sure you can do that in this league.
  15. We look like we did last season when our legs completely went.
  16. This is baffling on all levels. Can only think they're all running on empty.
  17. Jota honestly playing like he's got his laces tied together. We've been poor but they've been all huff and puff. That's a nailed on penalty.
  18. Cheers Joycey, just what I needed today.
  19. Good that. He's a wrong un in plain sight and looks very capable of leading them to relegation / ruin, whichever comes first. They're not fixing what is wrong in the summer and the manager has a good chance of being out by Christmas. He sounds like he might have his locker cleaned out already every time he speaks.
  20. He looks like he's had bump a couple of times since he came on.
