Well they clearly scouted the wrong left back. Don't get me wrong it's on the manager too. Guardiola scouted and spent huge amounts on fullbacks. We have taken Milner out of there, replaced him with worse and brought in a back up we don't use. Meanwhile we spend another 40 million at the deadline on a wide player.
You don't substitute a defender after one error. That sets up a toxic environment and makes them even more tentative. Sorry I don't buy your argument. No manager would have subbed Moreno after one mistake. The issue is we have had 2 games this season where a defender has made 2 individual errors leading to goals. The issue is that the players we have do not have the concentration levels of top class defenders. Therefore whatever is on the training pitch is wasted due to errors. The real issue therefore is why didn't we address this over the summer. If VVD is the only solution then our scouting department needs to be reassessed. Yep. Which makes the summer so baffling.
Henderson's loss of possession leading to the corner and then the corner concede had that strange feeling of inevitability. We don't have leaders. This teams heads fall. No leaders on the pitch with any authority.
It has to be said our form has notably dipped when he's been in the team vs. when he hasn't. That could be down to anything. But I think he's going to be sold in Jan.
