    Momo

I feel we are really really missing him. When he plays we normally get control of midfield and can't suffocate teams in their own half. He also protects the centre backs and allows us to play a high line as the defenders can be fairly sure that their midfielders won't have a lot of time and space to pick a pass as Fabregas did today. His presence also gives Xabi more time to play, and Gerrard more freedom to get forward. It's much harder to do that with Hamman who plays much deeper than Momo and is much much less mobile. Clearly having a forward who constituted a threat would help a bit too.
  2. Not for me he doesn't. Of the really top attacking players I've seen live over the past 10 years for me only Zidane really comes close. I thought you could see against Chelsea a level of awe for Ronaldinho among the Chelsea players which no-one else could have engendered.
  3. I don;t think this is terrible news in some ways. Both are top players but both are on the way down. I can't believe they are the manager's first choices as they don't fit the profile of the players he's signed so far at all. I suspect that he is being put under pressure by the most likable duo in football - Roman and Pete. If that's the case I wouldn;t expect him to hang around that long. I think it would be a surprise if JM did not go suddenly.

    Strikers

Off the top of my head the majorish strikers I can remember us signing under the last four managers: Saunders - ok nothing more Clough - never really did it Riedle - good but past it Collymore - erratically good for a while Heskey - flattered to decieve Diouf - less said the better Baros - did ok, never looked completely convincing as a starter Cisse - we're not playing to his strengths but looks quite average Morientes - it's been all over for a while Crouch - doing ok but cannot carry the goalscoring burden Not too many success stories in that bunch...
  5. We must have been watching a different game. I thought they were both very good tonight.
  6. Me neither.
  7. Try the Cambridge on Goodge St. Usually a few Liverpool fans in there.

Better news on the offal today on this. Momo - talking about playing again this season - suspect that not realistic.
  9. My tuppence: Real want Rafa (who wouldn't). Perez's replacement is saying the kind of things about galcticos and the team that make this seem more of a possibility. Rafa is being careful what he says as he wants to manage them one day. The bottom line at Real Madrid is - whoever is in charge - the manager is never more than about 6 games away from being fired. I'd be surprised if he fancies that risk yet (touch wood, fingers crossed).
  10. It's not just corners. It's virtuallyevery time the ball goes in the box. I'm hoping Robbie will do some fo this (as he did once or twice against Arsenal).

I thought Rick's performance on Saturday was the highlight of the afternoon. Absolutely vintage Parry shirt-tie combo. Good work.
  12. Absolutely agree. There was a certain comic nature to Mad Erik which, together with real ineptitude, you rarely see these days.
  13. I'm not talking about being a bit rubbish here. For me some players are beyond that - they are inept. And some even have a comic quality to their ineptitude. Josemi was one such for me. Piechnik might have been to. Have we had any others as talented at comic ineptitude?
  14. Not sure why we needa left back. When JAR has started there witht he other three we've not conceded many at all. He's fine there.
  15. Not been but from what I've heard that will be interesting to say the least. I think the 300 or so Madrid fans are normally kept in the stadium and then bused out once the crowd has gone.

My own experience of various doctors and consultants - albeit with a very different injury (back) - was that being seen by the best person is very very important. Took me over a year to see the top surgeon. When I did his diagnosis and prognosis were quite different (and more positive) than I'd heard before. He got me on the road to recovery. I'm fingers crossed that that is what's happening with Momo.

Keep hoping for good news. First bit so far.

Not souding good. Fingers crossed - glad he's down in London and seeing the best people available. Fingers crossed. Can we get a message to him? Good clear statement from Parry.

Please can we try and stay calm and positive. Once Momo has seen a couple of specialists and the bruising has gone down it sounds like we'll have a better idea on this. Until then the jounralist pronouncements and their translations of what was presumably a private and confidential diagnosis with Momo shoudl be treated with sceptically in my opinion.
  20. Unbelievably good. The former is, IMO, the best in the world by an absolute mile. I rate Messi as in the top five too.
  21. Thought he looked a good player. Doubt he'll be there next year.
  22. When Allardyce has won the European Cup twice with with Bolton he can label himself the modern day Clough.
  23. True - another good on. However watched us lose at chelsea there so will head to extra time i think
  24. Around Lambeth - no idea. Extra time by barbican tube is pretty reliably red. For the semi-final against chelsea last year there were several hundred liverpool fans there. And two chelsea fans.
  25. Yes...forgot Arsenal for some reason. I'd also take Van Persie over any of them. Pongolle porbably for me, Mellor not for me.
