  1. It was said that he could tell if a player was carrying an injury even if the player himself didn't know.
  2. I am not depressed. We have to accept that a combination of loss of form in the case of players like Xabi and tiredness, mental and physical, in the case of our centre backs has lead to these recent results. We are losing concentration at set pieces and at the end of games. The early start to the season and the Japan trip are taking their toll and we don't have a big enough squad to cover for it. But I would far rather have this situation where we have seen how good we can be when we are fresh and in form than the alternative of being consistent at a lower level. We have raised the bar for our performances this season. Given quailty additions to the squad and fewer games next season we really should be able to challenge over the entire season.

  4. I'm not a chartered accountant, but I genuinely believe the reason we haven't bought the players we need is simply because they are not available in a World Cup year. Add to that that we, rightly, will not be held to ransom over stupid fees and it explains why we have not brought in the required players. After the summer's World Cup we may finally get the quality we want at a fair price.

  10. Professor Sir Ian Kershaw who wrote the brilliant two part biography of Hitler doesn't gave any credence to the idea that Hitler ever visited Liverpool. He gave a lecture quite recently and broached that very subject. Apart from his joke that he couldn't imagine Hitler standing on the Kop and shouting "C'mon you Reds!", he thought the whole story apocryphal. It would be absolutely fascinating were anyone to produce eveidence to support the claim and it would also mean a major revision of Hitler's pre-Nazi roots.
  11. They said on BBC1 during the Portsmouth game on Sunday that he had denied the story and was considering legal action against the papers that carried it.
  12. How can Henry consider going to Madrid when he knows what their fans are like?
  13. Cisse may have lightening pace, but he needs it so he can get to the ball first after he has trapped it.
  14. Didn't the Rangers chairman, Murray, admit recently that Souness is still a close friend and tries to help out the club whenever he can. The Newcastle fans certainly think that they paid way over the top for Boumsong and they have their suspicions as to why.
  15. I remember hearing a story once, probably apochryphal, that the name of Chelsea FC was owned seperately by someone else and that if the club left Stamford Bridge, they could no longer use the name. Anyone else know this?

  18. It's what Peter Kenyon nominally took whilst redirecting Arjen Robben from Old Trafford to Stamford Bridge.
  19. And if you listen to it on a 5.1 Home Cinema System, you can hear Drogba moan through 6 speakers.
  20. Kristina, it doesn't put you in a bad light at all. Anyone has the right to support any team they like for whatever reason and no-one has the right to denigrate them. I fully agree with you that you cannot rationalise your feelings for a football team, it's far too deep. There is just something in your heart that makes you freeze when the opposition is through on goal and on the other hand feel so ecstatic when you win. As to the forum you refer to, I often read it, although I have never contibuted to it, but I genuinely believe that you are welcome there Kristina, it's just that many of the Chelsea fans feel they have lost their club and can't come to terms with success. Some of the newer ones are the type that all newly successful teams attract: loud, boorish, disrepectful, insulting idiots who think they can prove their love for their team by attacking others, including their fellow Chelsea fans. There are some wiser, older heads there who actually want to discuss football and don't feel the need to prove themselves. Every forum has its share of fools, don't let them put you off. I know you never join in the baiting of Liverpool FC and its fans that is prevalent there so please feel free to contribute to this board anytime you like. You are a very welcome addition. By the way, what is your Bundesliga team....I can guess it's not Bayern Munchen .
  21. Keep posting Kristina, you post sense and if only you see the error of your ways in supporting Chelsea, you would be an asset to this forum If you don't mind me asking, I know you are German, so how is it that you support Chelsea? I am interested to know as until fairly recently I would have thought they would not be first choice ahead of Liverpool, Man U and Arsenal outside of the UK.
  22. I agree that they are awful, but what is the situatiuon witht the new Wembley? Will it have the provision for a running track by removing seats, but be a normal stadium for football? p.s. that goat freaks me out too lol p.p.s. the edit was because I quoted the wrong post
  23. It's the ballet scene between the Montagues and Capulets form Prokoviev's Romeo and Juliet.
