I think it is a direct consequence of their buying policy. No kid is ever going to get a chance with that club. In any other team, if a seasoned pro gets injured or moves on, the youngsters know that limited funds dictate they will at least be looked at as a potential replacement. If the same thing happens at Chelsea, Mourinho will simply go out and pay £25million for a replacement. They are only interested in big names for the first team.

I reckon we will have money for strikers this summer even if only because both the Real Madrid and Spanish national jobs will be vacant so the board will find the funds to keep Rafa happy. I don't like Owen for what I perceive he did to us, but he is a natural goalscorer and he wants to come back so he would be one choice. Liedson from Sporting Lisbon would be the other. Keep Crouch for his ability to hold the ball up and maybe Andy Johnson as he is proven to fight and score in the Premiership in the games where you just have to earn a point as opposed to Owen who is a big game player.
