  1. Joaquin David Villa Konoplyanka (still only 35) Michael Owen
  2. NetJets Cessna landed in Porto from Liverpool 10 mins ago….
  3. Anyone know where they are staying or training in Pittsburgh?
  4. Don’t forget Piechnik-Nicol. Whole write up in The Independent on it at the time.
  5. Yes. Hansen and Lawrenson the best partnership; Hansen and VVD the all-time XI choice. Second Liverpool game I ever attended, away v West Ham in 1987, he made a mistake and Cottee scored. It was so unusual, it was the headline the next day.
  6. I do the same. And did it with Rafa too. Not weird at all….
  7. Is is the lead piece on the Guardian site now. completely one sided narrative. It’s an error like a throw-in awarded the wrong way is an error. No mention of the passage of time either. In any event, Konate took a kick in the head and it should have been a free out. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/mar/02/forest-furious-as-error-hands-liverpool-victory
  8. Fabinho scored them for fun 2 years ago when Mo was away, IIRC.
  9. It made it into the Dale Johnson VAR review. Couldn’t believe it. There was nothing in it.
  10. In the Fulham game tonight on NBC, Jon Champion and Lee Dixon were commenting on the very precise language and clear messages been given by VAR on the feed they hear. Interestingly they said they don’t hear the ref’s side of the conversation but they hear VAR asking the ref what he saw etc. Dixon said it absolutely was not like that on Saturday.
  11. NBC glossed over the offside - “ we’re told it’s offside” and both pundits were adamant it was a red.
  12. You do have to wonder how we do pre-game this season. Are we too tight or too loose? Why do we give up the early goals? Even Thiago was sloppy at the start.
  13. Nice penalty for West Ham there. Mike Dean on VAR.
  14. That’s great, thanks! Couple things; Phil Neal was great. Passing, positioning. Ruined by that Graham Taylor video ‘yes boss’. Souness was imperious. No one challenged him. Thompson dives in, acts nervous. Also been my impression of him. Johnson much better than I remembered. Reminds me of Kuyt. He is everywhere. Alan Curtis of Swansea was a good player.
  15. The Lukaku love is incredible from them.
  16. Poor coach, no real central striker for the US. Plenty of possession and lots of decent players. Tyler Adams really stands out.
  17. Is red hair why Steve Sidwell is on the list?
  18. Put Nat, Divock and Naby into that lineup and it looks fine. Injuries and COVID at the wrong time. Vardy on Koumetio is a worry.
  19. Yes, Welbeck got a pen against us last season for just that.
  20. Not going forward necessarily, but defensively, yes. Not going forward, but defensively, yes.
  21. Yes, there is something really special about those. Chelsea in 2005 and 2007 particularly.
  22. Free kick on the edge of the area for Utd when Partey bumps into one of theirs after the ball has been played. Mane taken out in the box by a violent challenge after he’d play the ball - nothing.

    2019/2020

I know from an old topic that we share the same first game at Anfield (Sept 1987 v Oxford). I won’t be on Bournemouth beach! I spent the last 10 minutes of the Chelsea v City game on the phone with my brother ( I’m in NYC, he’s in Dublin). It’s too intense, even 24 hours later. I’ve watched all the clips, all the videos but it still feels bottled up. When Jordan does actually lift it, I will lose all emotional control.
