  1. I think we need a creative player like that, don’t like Dom at 10 against a low block. I like Cunha but could see how £25m for him would be a very tempting option. He defo fits our profile (young, up and coming and under priced).
  2. We’ve slaughtered birds in Europe We’re never gonna stop From Guineafowl to Turkeys We’ve killed the f*cking lot Hob braised and served with gravy In meals and on your roast We are bold at slaughters And we come from Liverpool Allez allez allez
  3. I heard of him when I hit a putt short of the hole playing golf and one of the guys shouted ‘Douglas Bader’. Because it had ‘no legs’. In the same round when we were looking for my ball he found it and shouted ‘Van Gogh’. For ‘one ‘ere’. Comedian that fella was.
  4. I’d pretty much echo everything above in relation to Jones. Not athletic or fast enough to reach the highest tier, can’t pin down what role he plays best in midfield, not a kid anymore at 24. Probably now as good as he will be. But does good things technically and worth retaining as a backup. If you want to be a top club in Europe neither starts, but it’s also about the squad makeup. Ideally you want current top players backed up by potentially future top players (like TAA/Bradley). If we think those two have reached their peak you could make a case for cashing in on them and replacing.
  5. Fowler was a brilliant finisher. One interesting thing about that video though is how bad a lot of the goalkeeping is in comparison to today.
  6. PSG are another City, cheated the system - but part of me wants them to win it because they were so good against us. Our whole season will be a huge success if and when we win the league, but those intense PSG games derailed us for a bit. We still haven’t fully recovered. My partners brothers are Villa fans and great lads, so although I always want other English teams to fail in Europe normally, I’d be happy for them.
  7. Yeah - we have two exceptional right backs and use them to play out. Having to put a young CB and a CM at right back has caused us massive problems. We were so much better when Bradley came on (he is brilliant btw).
  8. We have 5 or 6 needs but we won’t sign that many. There are players who could cover more than one base. Frimpong could cover Bradley and Salah on the right, Cunha could play 9 or 10. I wonder if Bajcetic might be the DM replacement for Endo, always saw real talent in him and he’s exactly the type of 6 to suit Slots style. One thing is clear and that is Gravenberch has played too much this year, we need someone Slot is confident in starting at 6 if Grav needs a break or is injured. We need a CB too. Its about building a deep squad with options. Huijson. Frimpong, Cunha, Kerkez in (cost about £200m) with Nunez, Tsimikas, Kelleher and Endo out (reckon £115m back) I think gives us an injection of energy and speed.
  9. Our win ratio with Bradley is 78% so the numbers back up this suggestion but obviously it’s a small sample size. Bradley is very good going forward, just in a different way to Trent. He is fast, powerful and aggressive, more direct. If he can avoid injuries he will be a star.
  10. He’s done brilliantly this season - can you imagine what 9 games with an Adrian level backup would have been like…he is very solid, has good hands, and maybe most importantly he gives off an air of calm which is huge. I think his one down side is shot stopping and presence both on shots and crosses. For the Beto disallowed goal you see the difference between him and Alisson, it’s quite a tight angle but Kelleher makes himself kind of small so the finish still isn’t right in the corner. I think Ali covers the whole goal from that angle and gives him nothing. And I think he saves the Dan Burn header in the final. He doesn’t have the presence Ali has, and for that reason I’m ok with bringing in Mamardashvili to see if he can be ‘the next Alisson’. Kelleher is a fantastic number two but he isn’t that, and we will get a fair bit of money for him. Wish him the absolute best wherever he goes though and I think he’ll always get a very warm welcome from our fans. League medal would be the perfect send off.
  11. So you are saying here that you’d like to eat Moyes’ face? It looks appetising to you?
  12. I love it when the Alan from St Helens shouts OOOOOOOHH after Jota jinks between the two defenders.
  13. I think Cunha could be sensational in the 10 role for us. He’s scoring 1/2 playing there for Wolves, and he has the ability to smash one in from distance fairly regularly, which can be what we need against a packed defence. I like Dom but we need another option in midfield so signing Cunha to play in the 10 role could open him up to playing further back, where he has looked good doing on the few occasions he’s played there.
  14. Love Dom, but think his pressing and energy are more useful against teams who try to play against us. A lot of his best stuff is driving with speed through midfield on the break, but against packed defences that don’t offer much space to run into, I think he just lacks a little bit of creativity and guile. This is one of the reasons I’d love to sign Cunha, he’d be an interesting option as a 9 but could also drop into the 10 role against packed defences. You could use Dom’s energy further back in that instance.
  15. Likewise - he’s just so feeble, like having Mr Burns up front. Hoping he finds his old self tonight. Would be ‘excellent’.
  16. Gakpo looked terrible when he came back for us as a sub, could barely move. Has he played for Holland?
  17. I like Jones at RB if Bradley isn’t ready.
  18. Absolutely no question. Kind of expected it TBH, even going down there was trying to put my pessimism aside.
  19. Imagine it’ll be Jota but he really needs a decent game, goal or whatever. Been abject since his return from injury.
  20. Cunha has a release clause and is proven in the Prem so I reckon that means he could be an option. Not arsed about him being a loon, loads of great players have been over the years. He’s rarely injured also.
  21. I don’t see Cunha as a 1 in 2 forward anyway, in the same way Bobby wasn’t. This season he’s been 1 in 2 whilst not playing up front (Strand-Larsen is the 9). I’ve watched them a bit and if anything he’s playing deeper than before but still scoring at that rate which is impressive. Mo will stay, and I think Cunha would be ideal as kind of a false 9 who can make things happen around him. We have lost creativity and I think he brings loads of that.
  22. Signing two world class existing lads up will mean fewer problems to fix so maybe do that?
  23. He’s brilliant but not £150m brilliant with his injury record. Cunha for £60m I’d be all over though. I think he could be the new Bobby.
  24. No chance of Isak IMO. Just typical FSG briefing about interest in a top player who proves to be ‘out of our price range’ because Newcastle won’t sell him cheap. We only sign cast offs and players with clauses these days. We are to be fair good at signing in those brackets but your £30-40k Salah and Mane pickups have to be supplemented by a couple of big VVD and Alisson moves. We kicked on and won it all after being aggressive for two of the best in the world in key positions.
