well if you read the remainder of his post then you would have realised that what he means is the direct result of torres not setting the world alight in the last two games (which is exactly what has happened) is the fact that we give him feck all service. the same could be argued to a certain extent regarding keane, although he has not done himself any favours by missing a few sitters and so on

its clear that we dont create enough but as someone else mentioned above (think it was rimbeux) we should play to our strengths. Why dont our players bomb forward into the box on one of the only occasions we create a decent chance? Torres the poor bugger had to fight it out virtually on his own when crosses were coming in. Just doesnt make any sense aiming every single cross to a person on his own in the box with 6 defenders around him

what do you mean by that? read the rest of his post before commenting ffs

deffo kuyt and babel in the 4 have flattered to deceive as far as creating chances are concerned or unlucking defences. they either dont have the requisite footballing brain (babel) or simply dont have the pace to make defenders worry about what is coming at them (kuyt). I am loathed to say this but surely the best example of what the wide areas of a midfield should consist of can be seen with the scum sides of the 90's and now more recently - they are packed with pace. also agree that rafa is far too cautious also in that he does not let players make a break for it in the box when a cross does finally come in (how often is it in our games where we only have 1 man in the box against 6 defenders when a cross comes in?). The mancs always make an effort of flooding the box as the more players you have in there the more chance of scoring surely?
  5. the worlds gone fecking mad. on a day their arab neighbours in palestine are being bombed and are in desperate need for food and medical supplies their bretheren go and spend £100m plus on a footballer and pay him £500k a week. absolutely fecking mad and sickening imo

  7. definately the post of 2009 thus far (i know its only the 9th day of the year but still )
  8. totally agree with that mate. Being a Burton lad myself Cloughie always had time for the locals before or after a game. Saw him regularly at the local supermarket as well and would always be prepared for a quick chat about footy. He built Burton Albion up from nothing to make them the most feared non league side in the country and almost assured them promotion to the football league. Its a huge loss for Burton Albion but no one round here would begrudge him the chance of fulfilling a dream to follow in his dads footsteps. Im sure he will be terrific for them.
  9. brad friedel is someone i forget we had with us at one time
  10. oh yeh i quite agree with you on that its not something we need at this time at all.
  11. and how do you know that any of this will have an effect on him performing? As I said before lets see whats going to happen before we go slagging him off eh?
  12. is the right answer. Some of the posts on here beggar belief considering no one knows what happened.
  13. agree with that. Its no point having someone like sami in the box when all you do is hit the first defender
  14. put it this way if we had nando playing today we would have won by a small rugby score. The way to go surely is to continue as we have been away from home with nando or keane up top and perhaps play the both of them against the so called lesser sides at home

  16. i can really see the mancs and chelsea building a lead now we have been relying on them to slip up after every couple of games and that wont go on forever

    Anfield

its all about the way the team is set up. we are far too cautious. this is evident by the fact that we tend to play our best football at home when losing as we are having to chase the game and therefore we are taking more chances. granted we should have floored Hull by half time today but that was instigated by the 2 goal lead they obtained. In the 2nd half when it was all level we again went into our shell and therefore the result was inevitable

  21. have family members who live in bahrain as well as abu dhabi and therefore have been there many times on extended breaks with them. there is a channel on sky which is dubai based and it has a lot of government rhetoric or propaganda on there showing makhtoum out and about on a daily basis. What it clearly shows is that maktoum has a lot of money and is not afraid to flash it (they show him driving his various sports cars at great speed and riding many expensive horses with patriotic music in the background ) I cannot say 100% obviously what maktoum's thoughts are but i can bet you that he would not want his son in law to come out flashing the cash with city and therefore gaining a higher profile in a region that is premier league footy mad. the sheikh buying liverpool would be the ultimate as far as the region is concerned i can assure you
  22. we dont want anyone to go collecting money for a kiddies charity we want someone who is going to win us the title mate. Owen is the player that is available and cheap and given his record for newcastle (when he has played of course) its exactly what we need
  23. if anything it will make them spend even more money in purchasing us. You have to understand the arab psyche and how they tick - they hate losing particularly to their 'rivals'
  24. owen has scored something like 28 in 61 for newcastle. If he were to join us he would never play every game in any event but would present us with a terrific option for any type of game i personally think its a no brainer - we should put certain feelings we may have due to the way he left us aside as we have the best opportunity to go for the league than we have had in many a year
  25. deffo owen and isnt sweinsteiger (sp) available on a free in the summer? would be worth having a look at him to give us better options in midfield
