the suggestions knox makes may have some credence. get rid of skrtel and buy in that lad from rangers (bougherra we were linked with who is a centre back). You would hope to receive £10m ish for skrtel and i think bougherra would cost around £5m so a cheapo replacement. Regarding Doyle I have already waxed lyrical regarding him in the transfer thread, but that was as a partner for torres to do the dirty work not as a replacement

rumours for a couple of days now that man city are sniffing round milner of aston villa. If i remember rightly rafa was very interested in him before he moved over there - probably would cost double than what villa paid for him (think they paid around £10m) but i think he is a class player. If they dont get fourth place i can see a few of their better players leaving and if we can afford it (a big IF) we should be in for milner or young to play on one of our flanks.

I remember both robinho and Diego being real special players you had to route out on football manager a few yeas ago and they turned up ok!!

just a slight departure from the current musings in this thread but i have been very impressed by that lad doyle at wolverhampton this season. Has played upfront on his own most of the season and never gives up and has an eye for a goal. think he might be a cut price option as back up for nando for next season? Im sure our irish reds could tell us a bit more about him but whenever I have seen him this season he has worked very hard and given defenders a real headache (plus he scored against the blues**** up at the pit earlier this season)

shouldn't really be doing this but have you noticed the space he has left for the right winger by being drawn to the ball? He did something similar in the UEFA cup game the other day going in for a ball that was Agger's and leaving the right winger to run in behind in huge amounts of space
