Anyway, this is the Owen thread, and I for one will be delighted if he comes back. It'd just be a shame if he "replaced" Cisse, as I think they'd be superb together.

Well he was clearly their main man and best player by far, but I wouldn't say he was a "focal point" as such. Auxerre had a strong midfield at the time, with Kapo and Tainio giving him good service.

Based on his performances over many seasons for Auxerre, and his performances before and after his injury with us, I think he's proven he's worth 14m. It's just a shame Rafa won't play him in his favoured position, and when he does, it's with a much weakened midfield area.
