Not doubting what you are saying mate but this is off the Sunday Times Rich List and I believe the settlement with his wife was quite a while before this was published. The only reason I ask about Morgan quoting the £80 million debt is that he has actually completed due dilegence on the club which as far as I'm aware (but I'm no financial expert) gives alot more information about the finances / debts of the club than the annual report etc.... and with all the papers including the echo and post quoting it, it seemed that it was the correct figure.
-
So if the figures are incorrect why is every paper including the echo and the daily post quoting the figure? I'm not saying you're wrong I'm just asking why? Morgan is worth roughly the same as Gillette according to all the figures available.
-
Why if Gillette is "only" worth £450m (only £450m but wouldn't mind being worth a 10th of that), yet he can afford to buy the club, fund the stadium and invest in new players isn't Moores looking at the same options as Gillete to fund the stadium, taking into account Gillete's wealth will drop considerably after "buying" the club? I'm no financial expert but it seems basic maths to me. When Steve Morgan stated a while back that the club was £80 million in debt, most people on here laughed at him and said the figure was a joke and we where nowhere near in that much debt etc..... well every story I've read on this takeover from the echo to the telegraph indicates that whoever buys the club will spend X amount buying the club, £80m paying off the debts and x amount to build the stadium, so maybe, just maybe Morgan was actually right about the debt the club is in. The worrying thing for me in all this (apart from DIC pulling out) is that now 2 people after completing due diligence on the club have decided that the club is worth less than they initially thought (Morgan and DIC), I can't remember if Kraft completed due diligence but I'm sure his interest in the club subsided after he looked at the bokks. Is there something in the books that is putting off investors that we don't know about. Personally I'm not happy about this Gillette deal, I have no inside knowledge but it just doesn't "feel" right. Now DIC have pulled out and can't come back in with another offer for 6 months I'd much rather go with Morgan that Gillette!
-
But Moores is the Board - apart from a representative from Granada the other board members as far as I'm aware are only there because they are "holding" Moores shares to be on there! So it's Moores decision as they are his shares the board members are holding!

bringing JC on for Garcia with 15 mins left - a Centre Half for a Striker / Winger in a knock-out game you are losing 5-2 at home when you have your leading goalscorer on the bench and don't bring him on at all! I've asked this already in a couple of threads but I'd love to know how that substituion (and the lack of them on Sat) was meant to win us the game - a Qtr Final Cup Tie @ Home!!!!
-
But he still made strange / lack of substitutions in both games regardless of the starting 11 and that is what is worrying me!
-
Just out of interest mate what bigger fish will we be realistacally frying come may?

How many young players where out there for us compared to Arsenal though??? Dudek - No Warnock - No Hyppia - No Palleta - Yes Peltier - Yes Guthrie - Yes Gerrard - No Aurellio - No Gonzalez - Yes Fowler - No Bellamy - No Subs: Garcia - No Alonso - No Carragher - No So out of 14 player we gave 4 young players a chance!! Arsenal probably gave as many youngsters if not more a chance and came to Anfield and beat us 6-3, nearly 7-3 if it wasn't for a penalty save!!! We thought Burnley in the FA Cup would be a wake-up call!! This was our only *realistic chance of silverware tonight and f*** what Wener was doing we should have put out our near-strongest if not our strongest side and been in the semi's now!!! *realistic - meaning it's alot easier to win the carling cup than the Champo's especially as we've got Barca next! (although I do think we can beat them!).

I have to agree and for those who are saying he looked off the pace it's not suprising really considering the last game he started was Galatasary which was over 1 month ago!! Robbie has played 12 games this season and scored 5 goals with most of them off the bench. Kuyt has scored 8 in 27 games. Now I'm not saying Kuyt doesn't work hard for the team etc... but he will never have the natural finishing talent of Robbie. I'm not saying either that Robbie should start ahead of Kuyt but he should at least be included in the 16 for home games, don't forget his record at the end of last season when he actually got a run in the side!!! Off the OS (this season): GOALS SCORED PER GAME Robbie Fowler .42 Peter Crouch .36 Dirk Kuyt .30 Steven Gerrard MBE .23 Craig Bellamy .23 The thing is a young, quick striker who is really on-form (who I rate) scored how many goals tonight and made almunia make how many saves? as opposed to a passed it, fat, overweight yada yada yada striker who scored!!! At the end of the day a strikers job is to score goals and that's one thing that Robbie will always do regardless of age etc....
-
Herbie please find the positives in the last 2 games! especially tactically from our manager beause I'm looking hard hoping to see them and I really can't see them!
-
Sorry mate - I agree we never show any urgency and half the time that's our problem. I know I keep harping on about it but....... a CH on for a Winger / Striker and leaving a striker on the bench when 5-2 down in a knock-out game is f***ing unbelieveable!!!I still can't get my head round that substituion!!!
-
Well if your far-fetched theory is true (and I don't believe for 1 second it is!) I will lose faith in Rafa. You don't put your point across to the board by harming the club. Harming the club includes going out of two cup competitions within 4 days and when you add in the the factor of the takeover bid it's not great really is it to make a point!!!
-
So you don't think when losing 2-0 at home his lack of attacking substitutions in a 1-off game where alarming? We swapped a left-back for a left-back whilst leaving our most inform striker on the bench (or warming the touchline for 45 minutes). Tonight really worried me as it meant he learnt nothing from Saturday and Wengers style of play and for me brining on JC (one of my favourite all-time LFC players) for Garcia was just the icing on the cake of a manger who doesn't know how to react to situations, just look at our stats after going 1-0 down and actually winning a game!
-
That's a good attitude then - just rollover every time Wenger comes up to Anfield. Those subs (or lack-of on Sat) where poor by any managers standards!!!

What score was the barcelona CL game?
Shanklyanfield replied to ricflairandy's topic in Liverpool FC
Since his stint on Sky has started I have slowly started to dislike Redknapp because of his comment but you cannot fault him tonight!! Every time he was talking about US LFC, he was saying US!!! When Merson laughed at the thought of us getting past Barca you could see Redknapp's hand twitch (like some bloke in a pub about to smack someone!) and he backed us to the hilt and said we can easily beat Barca especially with the crowd behind us at Anfield in the 2nd round! So to sum it up to slag Redknapp off for tonight is absolute b******s!!! He went up in my estimation tonight (he's still red at heart!) -
The Crowd for the applause at the end!!!!
-
The 2 points I can't believe people aren't picking up on in both matches is Rafa's substitutions. On Saturday - he didn't bring on Gonzalez or Bellamy when we where losing and only swapped a left-back for a left-back, again tonight we are 5-2 down and he brings on a Centre Half for a Winger / Striker to win the game!!! and leaving Crouch on the bench at the same time Either Rafa didn't want to win tonight or his choice of substitutions is getting alot worse. In Rafa I trust but tonight and Sat his substitutions are making me wonder where he is going!
-
From the Official - hope it's not true otherwise we are starting the game with 1 man down : Rafa Benitez has made four changes to his Liverpool side for today's Premiership clash with Bolton at Anfield. In come Crouch, Hyypia, Gonzalez and Pennant, they replace Bellamy, Agger, Garcia and Aurelio. This is the first match of 2007 and the Reds will be looking to make it a happy new year with three points. Liverpool - Reina, Finnan, Carragher, Hyypia, Gerrard, Alonso, Gonzalez, Pennant, Crouch, Kuyt. Subs - Dudek, Agger, Fowler, Garcia, Aurelio.
-
I think like a few that Fowler deserves a run - people when saying that he can't cut it anymore seem to forget the goals he scored at the back end of last season! If Robbie had the chances that Kuyt had against Charlton and Crouch had yesterday I think he would have put at least one of them away and despite hardly starting he's got 4 in 10 this year as well.
-
I agree that kuyt and crouch are playing well but at times we are too 1 paced with those 2 up-front. Gerrad is looking back near his best back in the middle. just a shame with the injurys at the moment.
-
Bellamy Carra Gonzalez Well at least they tried! I can't believe people are voting for Xabi when he's doing his best this season to impersonate Ray Wilkins!

Why is one of the worlds best CM's......
Shanklyanfield replied to anfieldgaz's topic in Liverpool FC
I said Alonso is playing poorly and not getting over the half-way line then I stated that it is probably because Rafa is asking him to play deeper. Just like I think Rafa asking Stevie to play out wide isn't helping his form!! -

Absolutely spot-on assessment! For me Alonso this season has been poor, he never ventures past the half-way line and either passes the ball back to Sami or Carra to distribute or try's the Glen Hoddle "Hollywood" ball. Apart from the cross for crouch against arsenal I can't remember the last time he actually broke into an oppositions area and opposition midfielders don't need to worry about him as an attacking threat! Out of Alonso and Momo I've never understood why Rafa plays Alonso the deeper of the two, Alonso is a much better footballer than Momo and Momo is better defensively so why he's switched their roles I really don't know. With Gerrard out wide as you've said there are no other midfielders breaking into the box apart from Gerrard. If you look at Arsenal's goal it was scored by a midfielder breaking into the box from a cross off a midfielder breaking into the box, when was the last time we done that? If Momo wasn't injured I would actually have started with Momo and Stevie in the middle as I believe those two give us the best balance in the middle and give Alonso a fews games rest, but as it is IMHO we've got to start from now on with Alonso and Stevie in the middle with other players playing RM and not Stevie. -
If Balague's updated version is out does anybody know exactly what his take on the matter is? If Owen cried because he couldn't come back then IMHO it's his own fault for leaving us in the first place especially the way he did with his 18-month contract negotiations in which he never intended to sign anwyay!
