I didn't think he played that badly last night - although he was very far from good. He was certainly no worse than Alonso, who isn't a scapegoat, so can escape critisism.
  3. i think it's strange how many people go for riise as man of the match. if MOM is given on work rate alone, i could understand it, but it's not. he got into some good positions and worked hard. but generally fluffed everything from the good positions he got into. if pennant had been that wasted he'd have been slammed. if aurelio had made a gaff like that for the 1st goal it'd be "he's schit, typical brazilian who can't defend". riises work rate was good, on saturday especially after the poor start he had in defence, but MOM? I can't understand how he gets close. timbo, some good comments on SG. also, has anyone noticed how he doesn't seem to want to tackle as much these days? i think gerrard is a wonderful tackler and it is a massive part of his game, i can't understand why he's choosing (or being instructed) not to get stuck in the way he can.
  4. sorry i speed read the thread and hadn't noticed you mention it!
  5. i think someone has organised a trip on RAWK ... http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=146242.0
  6. i'm pretty sure even after 1st signing for us, JB's agent was still touting him round europe. It was only when Kenny made JB the 1st 10k per week player in this country (after 2 seasons I think) did those rumours go away.
  7. according to thommo's autobiography, we were never really in for him. we were offered him for 4.5m and weren't interested at that price. about 2 months laster he signed for the mancs for 12m .... only kenyon knows why they paid another 7.5m!
  8. The world cup makes millions upon millions for the game. Some of that money should be used to provide insurance for the players while they are on international duty. There's no need for the small nations to be bankrupt - there's plenty of money in the game, perhaps they should cut back on all the freebies they ahnd out to "the football family" and other FIFA scams.
  9. i didn't think so. i thought he was a liability from very early on. i'm pretty sure his wages came out in his court case with linekar.
  10. you have to take into account though the 70k a week he earns. He's cost us around £17m up to now.
  11. there was also Glen Hysen who we all thought would be brilliant after he turned the mancs down. that was a mis-judgement. And didn't Arsenal want Jimmy Carter? ... although they got him in the end.
  12. if you call one of the private hire companies like "delta" around 30 quid. but i'm pretty sure it's about 60 in a black cab from outside the airport.
  13. for both you can get them there. you're pronanly best check the timetables in advance.
  14. or national express runs bus, which i think is quicker than the train at times.
  15. before the season started and after a look at the fixtures, i figured if we could be withing 5 or 6 points of whoever was top on the day the fa cup started we'd be in with a great chance. that's is obviosuly still possible - however, i expect us to drop points at both arsenal and man u and i don't think villa at home will be easy either. so, if we can somehow turn it round and stay within 6 points until the new years day game, we can do it - right now that looks a bif if to me.
  16. Everton's plans for the Kings Dock failed because of their inability to raise their portion of the deal (30-odd million if I remember). How exactly are they supposed to come up with the 100m required to share with us? However, I would have no issues with them being tennants in our stadium.
  17. So then you agree all Morgan was attempting to do is get a controlling interest in the club at a below market value? Forgetting your obvious issue with Moores getting what his shares are worth, what is there to stop Steve Morgan 1 day after buying LFC at half the market value, selling the club to the very dubai investors you are keen to see ignored? He could do it quite easily and make a tidy profit. Just because he was born in Garston and goes the match, doesn't mean he wouldn't do it. If Steve Morgan was interested in taking LFC forward, he would offer a true value for the club - even if people don't like him at least he would appear honest. Why not offer to buy out Moores, give him what the club is worth and then when he owned 51% of the club, then go for any share offer he wanted? i could go on and on. The only way Morgan can expect to be taken seriously and viewed as honest and honourable is offer what the club is worth - then you know he's in for the long haul, or at least not a short term profitearing exersize. you claim this deal was good for LFC. I claim this deal was good for Steve Morgan and we'd have no idea on it's impact on the club until after he had taken over.
  18. Do you recall the offer Morgan made for the club. I'm hopig my memory is serving me correctly here but this is how i remember it 1) The club at the time had recently been valued around 225m 2) Morgan offered to underwrite a 1 for 1 share offer for 63m (not 73m). So each shareholder could buy one share for each one they held. 3) If no other shareholder accepted to take their 1 or 1 offer, Morgan would have to stump up the full 63m. In return he would then control around 52% of the shares in the club. This share offer was a sham. It was a bid for Steve Morgan to get a 50% stake of a 220m valued company for around for 63m. So he'd be getting it for 50% off. It would be like someone coming up to you and saying i'll give you 25% value of your house in return for a 50% ownership of it. And you beiung happy because it gives you a few quid to buy a car. If Steve Morgan had been serious he would have offered true market value. Steve Morgan has spent around 5 or 6 years undermining the current board and owner in the intention of getting the club on the cheap. Yes the club may have been keen to get a cash injection, but not at any cost. The board was right to turn down Thaksin Shinawatra and they were right to turn down Morgan. As RP said earlier, we only get one chance to sell the family silver, we have to get it right.
  19. right i could go through and pick this apart point for point, but it could take all day. Can you answer me this 1. You think Steve Morgan only has the interests of LFC in mind? 2. You think it's OK for Steve moregan to propose a deal that he benefits out of and every other shareholder loses? 3. If you maintain Morgan only has LFC's interests, then instead of offering to buyout the club at unrealistic prices, why does he not offer LFC a loan at preferential rates? I can already answer number 3 for you. Steve Morgan has the best interests of Steve Morgan at heart. He's not the least bit interested in doing what's best for LFC, which is why all he's ever offered to do is effectively steal the club off other shareholders.
  20. on the subject of groundshare, at the AGM in Jan 2005 (or dec 2004 can't remember which), there was a vote about the shareholders view on groudshare. Morgan was about the only one in the room who refused to vote against ground share. previously he'd been on record of saying he supports groundshare. it's quite clear where he stands on this issue.
  21. If you join TLW, you'll be able to PM him.
  22. i've only seen the game at the stadium and not had the commentators influence me. personally i thought the 1st half was very even, both teams seemed to be happy to pass the ball about with very little end product. i thought our closing down was quite poor 1st half and that had the knock on impact to our whole tempo. but from the 1st kick of the 2nd half, we seemed to step it up. i thought it was only matter of time till we scored and remember thinking when we got a corner after about 10 mins of the 2nd half, what a good opening 10 mins it was to the half. as for the miss being a turning point - it was because they should have scored and then we did instead 30 seconds later. that chance should be a goal and it was effectively a 2 goal swing in less than a minute, so in that respect it was a turning point.
  23. So Parry has told the council the money is there ... I can't imagine he'd have done that without being pretty certain it is there.
  24. are you sure it's today? the post seem quite certain it's tomorrow. It seems very odd no other web sites are picking this story up.
  25. I've got mates in the building trade who've worked with him in the past and they think he's a c*** of the highest order.
