  1. you're watching a different player to me then. his forward runs are not sprints and anything to break past and get away from his marker, he just jogs a bit and if the defender stays with him, he stops turns and goes deep. he often just stands around and doesn't track back when we lose the ball. i think he doesn't try enough to make a difference - he looks like a player in a training game to me, just going through the motions until it's time to finish.
  2. are you serious? he's one of the laziest players i've seen in years play for us.
  3. Pennant doesn't try. His work rate is low and he's a bottler. I'm not one for booing ever, but I have no issue with players who don't give 100% getting s*** and Pennant does not give 100%. People work their nuts off all week to afford to go the match and it's an insult when the 11 players on the pitch don't work their nuts off in return.
  4. investment doesn't bring team spirit, which is the thing we lack most at the moment. most people thought we had a side that could put up a fight for the title this year - player for player are we worse than man u? i don't think so - but they have more fight about them than we do. i don't know what has happened since the close of last season, but the spirit displayed for large chunks of last year has gone - it's not about not spending 300m on one player, it's about the players we have showing 100% every game, then the team being greater than the sum of it's parts.
  5. not good. but at least he's closer to his family, so the burden on them is less. surely this case can't stand up in a EU court??
  6. Was he actually at Melwood? I thought that was just another of Fatty Oldhams "insider" made up rumours?
  7. Didn't we reveal this to the council when we signed the lease (I can't remember now)? I would imagine the terms of the lease would have been we could actually prove we could build the ground. That's my guess anyway.
  8. but there's not a player in our squad that doesn't do that at sometime or other. to read some where garcia is concerned, you'd think he was the only liverpool player ever to squader posession.
  9. As I posted on the other thread about this a day or two back, we have given this information to the council, but not the NWDA - but I was told that the reason we haven't done it, is because we don't have to. Broomhead wants it, but LFC believe there is not a legal requirement for this. Parry et al are having fun f***ing him about.
  10. Yeah, maybe it was before that, it's just in my mind I first noticed how different it was at Anderlecht last year. The season before I remembered as being alright - deportivo, monaco, olympicos and bayer leverkusen were all great trips from what i remember and the nugget factor wasn't too high at all. I've always tried to avoid the whole Irish bar scene anyway - sometimes there's little or no choice and sometimes it's alright even though it's rammed, because the right type of reds are there - but as a rule, I make it my mission not to go to those sorts of places. We were talking about it on the last couple of aways and saying how it's really different now and in fact we spend so much time avoiding where there'll be loads of reds, it's almost like it's not a footy trip. But it wasn't like that a little while back - in fact the exact opposite.
  11. Broomhead has his agenda. If he speaks there's a story. It doesn't matter what LFC say then, the Broomhead angle is enough to make a story.
  12. well see who makes the right decision on the day ... when you get into istanbul soaking, cold and p1ssed off - and i'm happily bevvied after a cracking time in the pub!! if there was someting riding on the game, i might have some interest in going - but I don't see the point when even if we lose, we still win the group. it's no more than a friendly imo. if it was somewhere i'd not been before, or even somewhere that was easy to go to, i'd probably still go - but i see no gain in going out to the ataturk for a dead match.
  13. it's not the getting there that's problem. it's after the game, after around 7 hours without a pint, being soaking wet and after being kept in an hour after the game, tiredness will have set in, the hangover probably started and the last thing i'll want is a 2km yomp in the dark (i don't remember street light last time!) on muddy pavements!
  14. i think it's about a mile and a half, maybe a fraction less. but it'll be across those hills like last time i'd imagine. the weather is often cold and wet there that time of year too, so if i remember the pavements were all mud last time weren't they? the section we're in is the "milan" section, so it's also uncovered. they've also said there's no taxis allowed up to the ground - or outside to pick up after, so you have to yomp this 2km back after the game (which btw is only finishing at about midnight local time), before you can get transport back to the city. i think they're saying you should give yourself 4 hours to get to the stadium - so you need to leave the city at about 6 and you won't return till about 2 or 3am - of course depending on if they keep us in at the end. nightmare if you ask me - which is why i plan to stay in the pub.
  15. does he have a chance of making appeals through the Uk and EU courts now he's home or does he still have to serve his full sentence?
  16. sadly since istanbul the euro aways are starting to get like that i think. there was a time i used to really look forward to getting into the centre and a good sing and all that, but there's d****eads everywhere now and we tend to give the big places a swerve these days as you don't know what type of prick you will find in places - it's not like everyone is like that, just that the prick factor is deffo on the increase.
  17. yeah :-) it's just a shame i miss all those fellas running round in shorts when i'm in the pub!
  18. why? it's what i plan to do. why ruin a perfectly good day by spending f***ing hours going to and from a stadium in the middle of nowhere, with no decent facilities round about (translate to decent pubs round about), watching our reserve team take on a turkish reserve team in an 80,000 stadium with about 10000 people there while i freeze my b****x off? we'll have a good few days, which will probably be enhanced by staying in the boozer. back to the original point of the thread - i fully sympathise with anny roads mate. i often get to the point where i can't be arsed going and a few times games i'd normally go to i decided would be a better laugh f***ing them off and going into town to watch on the telly and spend my ticket money on beer. It's not just a question of prices though. Now the loyalty thing is going, it's more difficult for lads who go to 2 or 3 games a season to get a ticket and if they can you're not sat together. So in the past where a group of you go the games - some every week, some most of the time and a few some of the time, it's now really only the lads who go a a real regular basis and the rest of the lads just go the pub and nearly always have a better day. a couple of seasons back i had tickets for newcastle away, i got hammered on the barnes and in the pub for a stop off on the way up there - got to the stadium and knew the walk up the steps in there to watch players about 3 inches in size would not be worth the effort, so i f***ed off the bigg market, carried on drinking, watched it in the pub, got a carry out for the way home and it was one of the best aways i did that season.
  19. I was under the impression that the reason LFC won't tell the NWDA the same info as they gave the council in September is because they don't have to, it's information that can remain confidential to LFC. How and where LFC fund the stadium from is apparently nothing to do with the NWDA and providing we underwrite the project, it is no different to any other building/development project happening in the North West and the NWDA don't demand this info off anyone else. Dunno if this it true, just what I was told. Broomhead has a hard on for us because we wouldn't go for the groundshare, it appears to me LFC are having great fun f***ing him about.
  20. the ticket office either gets you like that or absolutely fuming, which i was that day. although i've had a number of nightmare experiences with them over the years.
  21. i've had that before and i said i would refuse to move from the window until i completed my call ... she then sold me the tickets. i hate our ticket office. EDIT ... but just remembered she had to post them out and I couldn't take them with me!!!
  22. as i understand it steve heighway is not keen at supplementing the academy with young foreign talent - which is why you see us going in to buy lads at 16/17 as we have in recent years. they are rafa's buys to supplement the lack of talent coming through from the academy, it's down to heighway to bring them in before that. maybe he thinks it's unethical? perhaps he doesn't have the budget. whatever the reason, he's the man making the choice.
  23. can someone c&p the article? i can't access it in work.
  24. I think i'd sooner have thunderbirds or something (does that still exist?)!
  25. i say don't trust the judgement of someone who chooses fosters.
