  1. Seriously, how the feck does he think that he can help communication between Rafa and Hicks?
  2. You never know, he may be planning to swill Hicks with some of his mate's wine.
  3. Given that one of Hick's companies sells itself as "Connecting Brands To Fans, from the inside out", I would imagine that he would want to remain connected to Liverpool Football Club in some way. Additionally, if he thinks that DIC have the nouse to make a lot of money from the club, why wouldn't he insist on keeping a share for himself? I reckon he'll be around for a while yet, not necessarily with 50% of the club, but with some significant shareholding.
  4. I see the celebrations went off well (from the mail)...
  5. Why are people throwing punches and ale? The answer I'm hearing is that they want Junior to run home to Dad and tell him to sell up and move on. Why do people want him to sell up and move on? Because they think he is dishonest and only wants to make money from the club. Do people really think that a dishonest and money-motivated man will be deterred by someone trying to chin or throw ale over his grown son (who, apparently, went complete with a security escort)?
  6. Just heard this. Absolutely fantastic! No wonder the players came out flying. Well done to all involved.
  7. Well said Andy.

  13. What would be impressive is for everyone to leave the ground at half-time, leaving behind a flyer on the seat. The flyer should state something along the lines of "I plan to not attend the next match unless the owners express their intent to sell the club". The act of leaving the game is a very visible one. If you are gonna do it then an FA Cup match against a struggling Luton is one that the players can get through without support.

    Hicks:

If they wanted to learn a little more about English and European football, why didn't they speak to somebody on the Liverpool staff? There's years of experience at the highest level at their disposal. If they are unsure about how English and European football works AND they are now happy with Rafa then why not extend his contract, let him do the deals he wants to do, and leave him to do his job. If they had communication problems with Rafa, was that not because they were in the US? This is sounding more and more dodgy. Hicks comes across as a bit of a prick.

Well that's certainly a different spin than the headlines on the Echo site. I'll go back to keeping my gob shut for a while.

Unbelievable. I've erred on the side of seeing how things pan out, but this pushes me over the edge. This is not the way to run a football club, it's time for them to go.

  19. Shouldn't your question have been "have we signed a player according to our priorities?" (and then added your rider about how the transfer window is still open and that we have plenty of time to do that).
  20. Rafa said his priority was buying a centre back and he seems happy with the one he signed. Grant's priority was to sign a forward and he seems happy with the one he signed. Comparing the two things, it would seem that they are about equal. Now, given that you don't want to turn this into a Rafa-bashing thread (say, for example, by stating that his priorities are wrong) there's not much else to say about the comparison.
  21. To be fair, Rick hasn't exactly covered himself in glory when it comes to honesty. I think you get my gist. It's an easy tag, it irks me, it bothers you less - we're kicking the a*** out of this now and it (probably) should be left there.
  22. Chairmen G.N. Gillett Jnr (U.S.A) T.O. Hicks (U.S.A) Rest of Board R.N.Parry B.Sc, F.C.A. (U.K) F.L. Gillett (U.S.A) T.O. Hicks Jnr (U.S.A) D.R. Moores (U.K) If the club f***s up then they are all culpable.
  23. I wasn't implying xenophobia. I can imagine that others would like to make such an accusation but, for me, the objection is one of personal preference coupled with a defensive attitude against such accusations. It's just as easy to label them 'the millionaires', 'the grey-haired fellas', 'the mult-sport franchise owners' or 'the Americans'. Our objections lie in their roles as owners or directors so I'd prefer to use that 'collective' to describe them. There's no ambiguity if you keep to those terms.
  24. Fair enough, I just can't help but feel that it may become an issue at some stage.
