Having read both the Balague and Lloret books I have to say that Rafa is the man. So f***ing right for this club. He wants the mentality, the work ethic, the will to adapt to both the cultural and team ethic, as well as the natural footballing qualities. There will be a gem in the rough for every big signing we make. More often than not we will get someone who can adapt to the various systems that Rafa wants to play. One thing that stood out from the Balague book is when Ranieri was asked by a player (after Rafa had left Valencia) how to play. Ranieri responded 'play as you did last season' to which the player responded 'we had five different styles of playing / defending last season' We're not just looking at building a championship winning team but a squad, and that goes through the ressies as well. We honestly don't know how f***ing great our manager is yet. He'll be a legend. For sure.

Actim, if I'm not mistaken is similar to opta but run by the press association. They have ex-players at every match who basically click a button everytime someone gets posession and the computer totals up successful passes, tackles, dribbles etc

Having just read Balague's book it became apparent that Owen ended up leaving as he wouldn't sign a contract and Rafa thought the money would be better used elsewhere (mostly funding the xabi and luis deals). Apart from the contract situation I can't see the priorities changing - unless the RW and CB deals are structured over the period of the contracts and we would be able to afford Owen. Even then we are second guessing at whether Owen could actually move to two clubs in one season. Whether it's in his contract or not that he can move. Incidentally when he's played for the barcodes they have won something like 6 out of 8 games, and when he hasn't it's something like 1 out of 9. On that form Shephard had better factor in paying off souness and his staff into any potential sale.
