  1. On Sunday, hoping that a different set of players that he's yet to get a tune out of inherit the vibe of a Euro league win. It doesn't fix any of the problems. I'd like to see him work on the core and experiment with maybe dropping a couple of squad players in. Not the other way around. Wholesale changes do nothing - it will still be largely the same players with the same system come Sunday. What happened to the strategy and knowing what job players were brought in to do? "There's a strategy behind what we're doing," Rodgers explained from New York, where the Reds meet Manchester City in the International Champions Cup on Wednesday evening. "We were talking a lot right the way through last season with the recruitment team; we knew that we had to improve the depth of our squad - it was one of the objectives for the summer. "Clearly we weren't strong enough last year in terms of depth, numbers and quality. We had always earmarked in the summer to bring in a number of players, in the hope that we would be in the Champions League. "That would give us the opportunity to challenge on all fronts. The players that we're bringing in have clear profiles in terms of where we want them to play and what their role is. July 2014
  2. f*** the cups. 2001 was s***e anyway. Here's to a tremendous success at securing 4th place to go down within our storied history. the cups don't keep Brendan his job. That's the story here.
  3. They're basically trying to sell Trigger's broom aren't they.
  4. We won't lose by 30 goals. Even under Rodgers.
  5. I reckon he impressed them by showing that by saving powerpoint as .pps anyone can view the presentation. Efficiency, technology, and innovation is the FSG way
  6. I agree. The whole language of the club is one of corporatism. The model is statistically driven. There's no instinct, experience or nous. We are one homogeneous entity.
  7. Big brand opportunities remain for us to partner in the following industries: Bottling Defence Cardiology
  8. We lack leaders, but that's ok as we have the group. Problem is we have a f***wit overseeing them.
  9. A friend of the wife was over last week. Her old man owns some property on Tatton park. One of Sounesses lads was out walking with his dogs. They got under a fence and killed some of her old man's sheep so the old man shot both of the dogs (all kosher apparently). The next day Graham turns up at the doorstep. Now at this point I was expecting her to tell of a massive kick off but he was fantastically reasonable by all accounts and apologised for the sheep kills. I hope you are as disappointed in the anti-climax as I was, and the fact this was more of a ting than a clang
  10. I'd probably look at Clyne--Skrtel--Sakho--Gomez Milner---Can--Lucas---Moreno -------------Firmino---------------- -------------Benteke---------------- Milner and Clyne both have an engine to get up and down their left flank. We are a bit weak on our left but Moreno has an engine and pace for the counter. Firmino buzzing off Benteke to pick up any quick knocks upfield, and linking left to right with our wide mids. Can does his busting runs, and Lucas holds to allow our fullbacks to move forwards. I don't fancy lallana fannying about for this one. Ibe and Sturridge to come on for if/ when they change to a 3 up front (rooney / depay / martial / mata / fuzzhead).
  11. I don't think this can be won by us in the centre of the park. Play around them and get in behind Darmien and Shaw as their system relies on them moving forward to supply width.
  12. they probably intended to get Not Big Sam on about social media and the toad version got wind
  13. Lallana and Lambert - worked brilliantly at Southampton. We bought them and gave them about 90 minutes together in tandem when our key striker is out for most of the season. It is mind boggling
  14. Alonso for one
  15. I think I've said this before but it appears Rodgers likes good professional automatons who follow his instruction to the letter. When the instructions are wrong you are then left with nobody to grab the game by the balls and say f*** it. The group, the unit etc. It's all in there. I've never known the club so devoid of personality across the board. Everything seems decided on systems, committees, statistics. There's no fire in the belly, no instinct, or knowledge to lead us through and drive on. We have had 3 years of the transfer committee as a model. Compare to other teams operating without this structure and how beneficial has it actually been for us? I can't see value in anyone aside from Coutinho & Sturridge (Clyne & Gomez potentially), and the returns on the pitch have almost been diminishing by the month.
  16. We've lost that lovren feeling, but Brendan will bring back that lovren feeling. 3 points gone...gone...gone
  17. A 4 for me. No signs of development, he's on his 3rd team already, there's some obvious flaws he won't tackle and he has massively lost his way. I don't care that we've bought players he has identified. We have enough variety in there somewhere for a top quality manager to make a good fist of them. Whilst Brendan is doing a good job of showing us why he has never won a trophy. It's not even as though we have a style of play to evidence there being something in progress that mitigates the results of the west hams, palaces etc.
  18. for some weird reason I can't stop thinking something akin to kicking Bishop Brennan up the a*** is on the go
  19. Does this mean he's a transfer committee choice? Thought Brendan would be all over that (the question not the lady)
  20. Benteke, benteke score, score, score up in the air, on the floor, floor, floor Here comes Borini with Balotelli's gun Benteke, benteke, run, run, run
  21. Our commercial dept could hook up with Knowsley safari park for Be a Rhino days as well It's also why the transfer committee were keen to go in for Arsenal's Francis c**k-a-lion (as David Pleat would say)
  22. He could be the new nunez
  23. If that happens then what do qpr get?
  24. Sounds like he's reading one of Bill Bryson's books
  25. So, smithdown, if that is your real name *pulls at rubber facemask* RAHEEM STERLING??!!???
