  1. Pity the internet/forums didn't exist when Shanks went after a 20 year old right midfielder from a club at the bottom of div 4. We could have discussed his 'level' for years and years - right up to him winning European footballer of the year.
  2. Lacks a bit of width but numbers may give us an advantage if they hide behind each other when the ref is counting!
  3. No need to be limited in our vision. Old Nimitz class provides the core. Pitch, power supply, indoor training facilities, new Kop, new Annie Road, steam catapult for Fergie etc. Old cruise ships for new Main and Centenary, sail direct from Ireland and Scandinavia. Summer tours to States/Far East/Falklands protection/Iran invasion sorted.
  4. Should we be talking about the DoF as well? or first? For all the things that you'd want a DoF to do, I can't look past Rafa. After that I'd be happy with Martinez, AVB or other 'youngster' as manager, providing they think they could work with the pressure of having such an obvious replacement waiting in the wings.

    Kenny

Just about to say that. I'd quite like that. Rafa on his own would ruffle the feathers of the press too much.

Ruby - Kaiser Chiefs ? Not terribly 80s though

tbh I think he should be captain at the moment. Nothing against Reina, but I don't like goalies as captain - they can't interact with everyone else like a midfielder can. Don't like strikers being captain either.
  8. Neither organised as I would given the players, but I'm going Epic as well.
  9. Why is Enrique daft? He's been really good so far imho. Not flawless, but who is/has ever been Carra and Johnson would be good if Heighway came if on his left foot. (In my memory Heighway played left wing - other than the FA cup v Newcastle!)
  10. I did anyway. Left back was the problem. Enrique Carra Barney Johnson Loads better defenders than Aurelio
  11. Brilliant! Forgot how two footed he was - and you're right, very Gerrard-ish, or is Stevie Emlynesq?
  12. defo give you the bold bit - fair enough.
  13. If playing against a 4, 2, 3, 1 though, I reckon even Souness will be over-run, and Terry Mac's late runs into the box would also be negated. It was more a case of would the CH's stop Suarez/Fowler near post flick headerss from the crosses, 'cos there's no target man.
  14. Agree to an extent with the first bit, it was when he wasn't quite as mobile, but could still read the game, tackle and pass the ball, but earlier on, I think he could have been good with Alonso, however I defo would have played 4, 2, 3, 1 with the players picked. Not sure about the comparison with Gerrard, don't think he was ever a 'power' player.
  15. Don't get this slagging off Hughes. England Captain, brilliant at centre half or 'defensive' midfield - original owner of the 'screamer!!'
  16. Gibo for me, Lawler has brought down Liddell for a last minute pen.
  17. This is really hard! Not sure about the Suarez/Fowler combo, but fancy Heighway to tear Aurelio a new one...
  18. Yes but he played with Toshack, so average height overall.
  19. It was Yeats vs Rush that got me thinking...
  20. What refereeing style are we playing with? Can Tommy Smith (for example) tackle Torres as he would have when he played, or would he already be having an early bath?
  21. Suarez would give Hyypia and Yeats a hard time but I reckon they may be able to handle Rushie for most of the game. Owen1978 has it fairly comfortably for me! Stevie G vs Stevie Nicol would be fun.
  22. Epic for me - just. Can't believe no-one is going for Aldo. Statistically, he was better than Rushie, just not for as long. And Beardo's not getting a look in either

    Shelvey

He's the new Hood - Thunderbirds supervillain!
  24. They need to be creative about transport in/out and also include decent bars or whatever to encourage people to leave more slowly after the game. Then we could get 73K or more. Hesitate to mention Disney, but Americans are usually quite good at the logistical stuff. They did alright with Berlin a while back as well, once we told them how much stuff they'd need to shift.
  25. Kind of what I was inferring in my own way earlier. Fulham are also looking to re-develop Craven Cottage. Chelsea & Fulham broadly similar issues to Us & Everton.
