If memory serves me right a similar story was bandied about when Benitez first arrived. He supposed asked for scouting reports on players and was amazed there wasn't any available. Amateurish if true.

A physical presence is essential in this league, you only have to look at the previous winners of the last 20 years for proof of that. Of course, technical ability and physical presence don't have to be mutually exclusive.

We do look more dangerous at set pieces, the Greek is obviously the main threat but Skrtel has looked more lively aswell. I may be wrong but we appear to be defending set pieces a little better - haven't got the stats to back this up mind. Our general play at times is quite good, nice one-twos, triangles but only in patches.

Top drawer is Ashley Cole Aurelio was available on a free transfer in the Summer. There was no stampede of clubs trying to sign him. Maybe his injury record put thm off.

How many left backs have we had since Riise, four? Aureilio - ok , nothing more and injury prone. Dossena - s*** Insua - young but didn't look anything special. And now Koncheski who is terrible. Maybe Comolli can spot a decent one
