    I wouldn't have Keane anywhere near the team. I don't think he gives us anything at the moment. I suspect that Kuyt for Yossi and Riera for Babel will be the only changes for Chelsea.

    I don't see what Heskey would give us other than an impact sub. We'll find it hard enough to fit Keane into the team once he's fit again without having to try to find room for another striker too.

    Keane has started 14 of 17 league games which compares better than Rooney, Tevez and most strikers in the league. Some of the press in Ireland are trying to say that Rafa hasn't given him a proper chance.

    And has superb hold up play. Controlled everything lofted up to him in the last Ireland match against Cyprus. He really impressed me and has improved his game a hell of a lot. Don't necessarily think he's the right signing for us though.

    Don't know why Rafa rested him, he never feels tired. If Dossena playes, I'd like to see Dirk get into the box a bit more to get on the end of those crosses he whips in.

    Paul Doyle co wrote the fiver yesterday. I don't know who he supports but he never resists to stick the boot into us and Rafa in particular.

    I thought that was by far his best match for us. Some of his crosses were really dangerous.

    I was in the main stand last Wed and the atmosphere went flat after about 30 mins. I was surprised as this was my first European night at Anfield and I was expecting something special.

    If Degen is out I think it will be Carra moving to RB. I'd be surprised it Rafa went with Darby for a game like this.

    Dunphy has a big problem with us in general and Rafa in particular. Have been listening to him on various media outlets here over the last decade or so and it's very rare that he has anything good to say about us. He did promise to retire in 2005 if we won in Istanbul. Unfortunately he went back on his promise.

    I'm quite happy Hibbert is starting. Never rated him at all. A Blue mate of mine reckons he's sh*te too. I fancy Riera will give him a torrid time.

    The Aslan fixation tends to be a northside thing. A friend of mine worked in a pub in Howth and it was always on the jukebox. I saw them on new years eve in the point when I was 17. No interest in the band but it was an excuse to get drunk.

    Back on topic, Ken Early was laying into Gerrard on Monday night. He's the soccer pundit on newstalk radio in Ireland. He said that the attitude and interview of Joe Cole contrasted sharply with Gerrard's interview where he was dictating where he should be played. It must be said that Early has a big problem with Gerrard.

    Heading off to Biarritz on Sat. Any suggestions of a good pub to watch Utd and the Marseille in? Heading to San Sebastian 20th so need somewhere to watch the Stoke game.

    Ballague is quite positive about him on his blog. The fact that he needs an arm around his shoulder may not work to his advantage with Rafa.
