To those who think it cant be 17m including wages....if he is on 50k a week for next 5 years that would be 13m total which would leave a fee of 4m. Assuming we paid a loan fee of maybe 2-3 million for the 18 month loan it is maybe not so unbelievable. Remember the position Masch was in when we took him.... not even warming the bench at West Ham (Who also probably paid a fee for him)

Dont agree.... his 1 on 1 defending is excellent (assume from your comment about the left back area you are thinking about Drogba getting the cross in for Joe Coles goal last year which was one of the few times he was beaten). Also, dont agree his distribution is bad at all (certainly compared to Carra, JAR etc etc ). I agree he could be more of an organiser but that will come. He is already top class and i dont think i would swap him for anyone, taking into account his age etc.

Sky have just confirmed that the club have said the fee was about 20 million pounds.
