  3. Why are people expecting him to be banging in goals then? I think we massively overpayed for him, FWIW, again that isn't his fault. He's a squad player, as is Henderson and unfortunately it appears Carroll. The price tags do not reflect that though.
  4. IMO on a normal matchday it's the daytrippers who actually make a lot of the noise. They are having a day out, they are enjoying it. The LC is like a f***ing morgue unless one of the big boys are in town. Can't speak or the Kop but there is very little variation in the songs when the likes of Bolton and Wigan come to visit. Whereas when we are beating one of the big boys (or Everton) the full repertoire comes out. Doors shut 30 mins before kick off. That would liven it up a bit IMO. Oh, re the topic of this thread. f*** off, we just won our first trophy in 6 years and are two games away from our second. How the f*** can anyone want to sack him now. He's an average premier league player, we have others too. Scored the winning goal in a cup game recently. It's not his fault we don't play to his strengths. The fact he cost £20m is being used as a stick to beat him because he isn't a £20m player, he's decent though and a valuable member of the squad. The biggest problem we have currently is the lack of a goal machine. We wont get anywhere near the top teams till we have a player who exists only to stick the ball in the net. That was supposed to be Carroll but he's just not looking the part.
  5. Surely one of the worst things about being a footballer is having a cardiac arrest on the pitch and being 'dead' for an hour? Self centred little w*****. THIS

Has been out-f***ing-standing this year, arguably our player of the season, arguably the most consistent and best centre back in the league. Discuss?

Really, they've spent loads. It's not their fault the money wasn't particularly well spent. We appear to have many problems at the moment but I don't think the owners are among them.

    Hillsborough

That's fine, you kick those tyres while the car is on fire. They wanted hooligans so the police gave them hooligans, far more important than the identity of the source. The police stuck together and gave the Govt the response it wanted to hear.

    Hillsborough

I think that's missing the point slightly, what is clear from this is that the truth was not out there from the onset. All of the decisions made were made based on erroneous information. The fact that the bloke is unnamed doesn't detract from this and are we surprised that a senior police officer is blaming the fans and not the police for the tragedy. What this reveals, to me, is what I already suspected, is that this wasn't a cover up that went to the very top. The Govt were told what they wanted to hear and acted accordingly.
  17. Play him with a decent striker and we will find out.

    Kenny

Warhurst was a terrific player crippled by injuries, I remember his spell for Wednesday well as I was a student there at the time and he put in a great shift. Equally adept at CB and CF. I'd love a player like that in my squad.

    Kenny

I think he was far too young for that club, but if Kenny walks and the owners don't want Rafa then I'd be happy for him to have a shot. He's no less experienced than Guardiola when Barcelona turned to him.

    Kenny

He's clearly a brilliant manager, I don't think Rafa would be able to manage those jumped up a******s at Chelsea. That's at least two managers they have got rid off now. I want Kenny then Rafa, but AVB would also be an excellent appointment.
  21. He shouldn't be our main striker he should be the Bergkamp to our Henry. The Dalglish to Rush. He's not the same sort of player but we need a proper striker to partner him. It's probably not Carroll but we still need one.
  22. Dennis Bergkamp didn't score 10 league goals in a season between 2000 and 2005. Yet he was an integral part of one of the best Arsenal sides ever, and he is a striker. Suarez is a box of tricks, a pain, a handful, a penalty winning machine. We should be cashing in on that. We aren't, that's the problem, not Suarez.
  23. Shouldn't this be in the General football forum
  24. Which I don't agree with. I think that is a mistake.
  25. It shouldn't be his job to score goals, his job is to be a threat, a constant thorn in the defences side. Other's have to step up to the mark and score some goals. We need a proper partner for him, whoever that may be. We can't expect him to do it all.
