  1. You have to factor in the fact that Suarez was public enemy number one, he was diver, a cheat and a racist. Ferguson says he cheats, so did Pulis. Now he is a sublimely gifted forward getting praise from all quarters. He will get reffed differently from this point, and especially at home, just watch.
  2. Just watch linesman, for an offside if in doubt they flag, almost always. They don't want to be the guy who allowed an clearly offside goal (unless it's United) That's why so many onside runs get flagged, they doubt themselves for a second and flag.
  3. It's a s*** decision, he's looked at the ball flying, glanced at Coates who looks off, he's not sure, then Suarez bangs it in and he's on the spot. Was he offside? He doesn't know for sure, what is the safest thing to do.
  4. I would, but not against United, forget that in your stats. Also Suarez is a marked man so that goes against us, or at least it did, I reckon all the media about him not getting anything has turned that back in our favour. We've had a few shockers this season but overall we will get a few our way as well, especially when we start putting teams under pressure at home.
  5. Exactly, it's chicken s***, the lino can do nothing if nothing transpires and nobody will question it, but when Suarez bangs in the winner in the last minute of the Derby from it ......... I'd love to have a go at being a lino. I might not be any good but I wouldn't s*** out of tough decisions.
  6. But an 8 game snippet that starts immediately after a defeat, what is the point. Wins on the bounce, that's a form stat. 7 wins in 9. Unbeaten games doesn't equal good form necessarily.
  7. Can't see that link but as I recalled when the ball is in the air he runs behind the last defender as he prepares to head it, for a second he looks off but that is because he moved when the ball is in the air. Suarez never looked off.
  8. Because if Suarez doesn't score he doesn't have to make the decision. Was Coates offside? s***, got to make a call here Yep, he looked it I'd better flag Indecisive human frailties. See late flags from linos all the time. They are terrified of giving a goal that clearly wasn't. Much better to say, he looked off and be wrong.
  9. Coates looked offside at one point, he wasn't but he did look it, that is what I believe the linesman saw. Just poor, nothing else, no conspiracy.
  10. My argument is that in a decent run of form I would expect to beat Reading, Wigan, Norwich, Stoke and probably Newcastle or Swansea. 5 wins not 3. I think this run of form is mediocre at best for the fixtures that we had. The form table just shows that other teams in other fixtures did less well. How is that relevant.
  11. Yeah, the Suarez one was a shocker. I can count another 10 though this season just as bad throughout the league, it's not bias it's just incompetence and cowardice.
  12. Yes it is, unless you play United. Most refs and linesman are unbiased cowards and some are not very good at their jobs. The bias really only figures when United need a result i.e. Shelvey's red. Stamps and elbows are missed all the time, Suarez has a reputation that means refs think he play acts. The fact is we are playing average football and havent lost in the league for a while. Maybe that will continue maybe it wont, it certainly doesn't look like a brave new dawn from where I am sat.
  13. No it means nothing because it compares 16 totally separate sets of fixtures against each other in an arbitrary fashion. Lets see where we are after 19 games and compare that to the equivalent 19 games of everyone else.
  14. It was a marginal offside that went against us. He looked offside to me the first time I watched it because of his arm, it's only when you stop it and see the defenders foot that it is clear he is onside. We have about 10 of those a season every season, some where the player is offside some where he isn't. It's laughable that this is being brought into your argument to be honest.
  15. The 16 other teams didn't get the same fixtures you know, it means nothing that stat. It's 3 wins in 8 league game that included Wigan, Norwich, Stoke and Reading, it's not really a decent little run, it's points dropped. 3 wins, a decent point at Chelsea and not getting beat in the Derby. That's it.
  16. Well lets cling on to the fantasy that we are better than the results we are getting and it's dodgy officiating that has us languishing in mid table.
  17. some respects not cases My argument is, and has been from the off, that we have played the football of a mid table side and the results we have garnered, even in our 'decent little run' are not that much better than the results that got Dalglish the sack. Oh, and when did 3 wins and 5 draws become decent for Liverpool football club. That was a loss of form in December 2008. We are playing average football and getting average results, there looks to be fundamental flaws with the system we are playing and for whatever reason it isn't getting the best out of Gerrard. I don't see a whole lot to be positive about at the moment. Maybe we will mash Spurs tomorrow. I doubt it though.
  18. That's a poor excuse. Let's hope that we are significantly better than our opposition so that the odd decision here or there doesn't cost us massively. Let have a disallowed stonewall penalty but lets win 3-1 so it doesn't actually matter. That's what good sides do they win despite bad luck.
  19. Nor was I about last season ...
  20. Is it Rodgers fault that we give away leads in games we should be closing out? A sequence of wins is a run, not getting beat is a mid-table mentality. In that run we lost several games as well, not league games but games nonetheless. 5 wins (Reading, Stoke, Newcastle, Norwich, Wigan) and 3 losses (Everton, Chelsea, Swansea) would have got us more points. Was 5 wins too much to ask from those 8 games?
  21. 1 pt more than the minimum expected it's hardly stellar. Tomorrow doesn't really affect that for me as minimum expected from Spurs is nothing as it's a tough game. December though we have a lot of games we should be winning and 3 wins and 5 draws in 8 just wont cut it.
  22. We've won 3 games this season in 13 games. How many of those 8 games unbeaten would you have expected to win at the start of the year? By having a very tough start it stands to reason that we would then have a easier section, we haven't capitalised on that in my opinion, hence 'in some respects going backwards'. Anyway, lets see where we are in January, half way point, played everyone one gives a truer reflection of where we are at. Swansea 0-0 A 3-0 Wigan H Chelsea 1-1 A 1-1 Newcastle H Everton 2-2 A 1-0 Reading H 0-0 Stoke H Norwich 2-5 A I'd expect a minimum of 13pts from those fixtures. We got 14. Edited as Everton away is not a minimum draw, it's a loss.
  23. Ok. The points we should have gained are irrelevant, you can't just add 4pts because of dodgy officials. The points we have reflect the performance of the team. It is a fair reflection in my opinion.
  24. That is, kind of my point, we spent the season making excuses for not getting the points, now we are making similar excuses to explain why we haven't got the points yet comparing directly to the points we got last season. You can't say we should have had 4pts more so we are better than last year which is what people are doing. We have the points we have, we are not playing football, in my opinion, that deserves to be higher up in the league. That doesn't mean we can't we just aren't and long unbeaten runs with lots of draws don't prove anything. A good performance and 3pts tomorrow would be a massive step in the right direction as Spurs are a good side. I don't feel we have beaten any really good sides this season, we have played well against them but we have only beaten sides that we expect to beat. I expect us to play well and draw/lose to Spurs tomorrow as they are excellent on the counter attack and we leave huge spaces that Bale and co are going to love. December is absolutely massive for the club.
  25. You can say exactly the same about last season.
