Can we stop with this, Rafa did not replace Alonso with Aquilani. If anything he replaced him with Lucas. Two totally different players. When Aquilani played at his most effective he was ahead of Gerrard. The worst footballing decision, for me, in the last 20 years was signing Diouf, Diao and Cheyrou at a time when a decent summer had a title challenge beckoning. Imagine if instead in that summer we'd signed Ronaldo, Lampard and Van Bommell for example.

It's his chance to set the record straight in this country. Win the title with Chelsea and he proves hie can do it. Fail at Chelsea and he can kiss goodbye a top job in the Prem and he seems quite settled here. Avram Grant as his number 2 would be a stroke of mastery from Abramovich. Please let this happen.

Sorry, wasn't intended as a dig, there just seems to be a lot of investigation into this incident but the bare facts are Bale dives as much, if not more than any other player, especially Suarez. I'm glad someone has called him on it and even more glad that Brendan has done it defending Luis

To be honest I don't care if it was/wasn't a foul. Bale is a diver and doesn't get called on it, Suarez is a diver who does. One is Welsh the other is Uruguayan. Brendan is bang on.

If we keep Friedel there is no Dudek, no Dudek = no save from Shevchenko = no big ears. Don't mess with fate.

That's a damn fine post Chewie, the dismissal of the idea of a DOF so easily sounded alarm bells for me. I believe FSG wanted Kenny to move upstairs to that role, then it was a fait accompli, you WILL be working with Kenny Dalglish, take it or leave it. Kenny's refusal threw them. They were now recruiting for a manager and a DOF and the manager they wanted refused to work with a DOF or even interview for the job. The answer, I believe, was to go with someone with massive balls, a proven track record, whilst they continued to come to terms with what their new plan would be. Then he would make the transition to DOF and we would be back to 'The job comes with LVG as a DOF'. Massive massive error IMO.

In his defence, if he as £100K a week going in Joe Cole's trouser and knows he is very unlikely to shift him on then he has to at least give him a chance to find some form. I think Brendan has handled the man management of the squad pretty well, it's when they go out on the pitch where he has struggled.

Nobody was saying luck evened itself out, well I certainly wasn't, I was suggesting that unless you are playing Manchester United the dodgy officiating that you receive is more down to incompetence and cowardice than any form of corruption or bias. The Suarez 'goal' v Everton being the case in point. Was it disallowed because of bias or because a lino shat himself at the thought of giving Suarez an offside winner at Goodison in the 93rd minute.
