We have form, of a sort, and a run, the last run we had we did ok. Not great but some good results, get us within a sniff of a CL place now with 3 games to go and we will be ideally placed for next year.

But now we are also just 10pts off 3rd, therefore there are now two teams to gain ground on and we play both. It's a big ask but we do have a decent run in and both the intended victims come to us. Win both those and we are 7pts off 3rd.

My blind optimism is back with avengence, when Gerrard scored it went through the f***ing roof. Sorry Rafa, love you and all that but you are a point ahead of Spurs now so game on. With City f***ing it up left right and centre I'm not even sure that I want Chelsea to get anything off the Mancs any more.

I just think that Rafa is too good a manager to let that happen, I can already see signs of progress in them, the dominating of Arsenal in the first half, the controlling of the game v Reading. I can't see them getting worse towards the end of the season and they are already scoring at an equivalent rate to us (I believe) so we would have to improve an incredible amount to catch them. Maybe my blind optimism has taken a battering lately but I still believe 4th is up for grabs just not 3rd.

In my opinion, we have less chance of catching Chelsea than they have of catching the Mancs. Yes the Mancs would have to implode but under Rafa Chelsea could win their next 14 games (he has previous). I do not trust City, so until Chelsea are out of it I back Chelsea, this means I HAVE to back them to win EVERY game because otherwise they wont get near the Mancs. Liverpool have not shown any sign of going on a similar run, we are leaky as a sieve, and so I do not believe that we can catch Chelsea, the best I think we can do is match their results till the end of the season. I do, however believe that we can catch Everton, Spurs and Arsenal, so Chelsea in respect to what Liverpool do are an irrelevance. So the only reason Chelsea exist is to catch the Mancs. Until they cannot do that I want them to win, when that becomes impossible then I will want them to beat Arsenal, Everton and Spurs and of course United. The 19th title doesn't change a thing for me. I will continue to want Man U to lose every game that does not adversely affect Liverpool. ABU.

I agree with this, but I would also rather Chelsea won the league than the Mancs and to do that they need to beat more than just the three above. The fact that Rafa is the manager helps in that regard. Being plesaed when Rafa does well doesn't feel as dirty as being pleased when Chelsea do. Once Chelsea cease to be a realistic contender I will be less arsed about their results against the rest. Yesterday was quite significant in that respect. Some people are laughing at Rafa though, and trying to disguise it as laughing at Chelsea.

I don't understand this view unless you think we can catch Chelsea. If Chelsea win games then other teams aren't getting the points. Ideally City, United and Chelsea would win all their fixtures except against us. That gives us the best chance of getting 4th. Not wanting Utd to win anything means any points dropped by them is greeted with a cheer but that aside, if we can't join them then let them beat everyone else. This is why I want Rafa to do well, because it is also good for Liverpool.

A bad Chelsea result certainly does, look at the names who posted immediately after the final whistle .....

You can defend Rafa from g*******s without wanting him to succeed on the pitch. As it happens I think Chelsea finishing 3rd comfortably gives us a better chance of 4th so I can be pleased when Chelsea win for Rafa and for Liverpool when those results are against our rivals.

More nonsense from the serial spammer. 1 question needs asking, will Liverpool finish above Chelsea this season. If you think yes, then you want Chelsea to fail, if no then them taking points of Arsenal, Spurs, Everton is GOOD for Liverpool. We are 9 points behind them with 15 games left, I reckon 2pts a game is top end realistic for us, so that will leave Chelsea only getting 20pts in the next 15 games. Do you think that is on?

Less trophies The only rewriting required is of your posts. Nobody knew when we spent £15m on Allen that we were going to loan Carroll and bring in nobody. I think 'most' would have said 'f*** Allen off lets buy some strikers'. Allen may well be a good signing but we were crying out for a £15m+ striker in the summer and we didn't get one.

If he needs him for Arsenal and City rest him completely. I think what this game showed is we can't rest Gerrard and Lucas and have a combative midfield. Gerrard did more ball winning in his first 5 mins than Allen and Henderson had done. To some degree we had done that, they went really flat after Suarez goal and the defence seemed to be getting to grips with the centre forward. Jones gifting them one before the break had them flying out of the traps in the second half.

There is a strong case to argue that he cost us the game. First goal is headed in from inside the 6yd box, this puts us under the cosh from the off, we get back into it and look comfortable and he gives them a goal before half time. Appalling performance. That lad we let go looked twice as good as him.

We were poor, the midfield was wrong and Coates doesn't look like he fancies an old fashioned centre back, factor in the keeper's hand in the first two goals and the poor defending at the back post for the 3rd and we lost a game that really those players should be winning. I think Rodgers comments are designed to show his displeasure without hanging anyone out to dry. Coates and Robinson were f***ing awful. Combine that with Jones illustrating that he isn't a patch on Reina and it's easy to see why it happened. I'm not a fan of Gerrard on the bench for these. It's a fight, he wins all his battles, take him off after 60 when the game is won or don't have him in the squad.

I'm here when they lost, yet was not on here when they played well against Arsenal, and I am continually defending Rafa. Maybe people are on here when they have spare time rather than anything more sinister. The difference is some people are willing Rafa to do well, some want him to fail. Some are willing the same things for very different reasons sometimes. Every LFC fan on this board should be wanting Brendan to do well, even those of us who would rather the job had gone elsewhere. So less revelling in Brendan's failures occurs.

The problem is that all clubs are not equal so this restriction for Wenger will be advantageous whereas someone like Newcastle it is disadvantageous. If Newcastle have to add buy out clauses in contracts to attract top talent then they will be vulnerable to losing their best players in January. Why should they be punished twice? In my opinion the transfer window should shut at the start of the season, not 2 weeks into it, we should have a 2 week winter break when transfers can be made, then it is shut again once the games start again. Therefore every team plays 19 games against the same squads of players. Obviously this has fixture congestion problems but you cannot cap transfers just because some clubs utilise it more than others.
