  4. Sorry IMO Precisely for that reason and the posts that appeared on here about 2-3 weeks ago (I remember RP saying it was done and also Dave Usher (I think)). Basically the theme was that the Owen deal was done (with the player) but Liverpool were trying to get Real to let him go for peanuts possibly on loan. Liverpool were therefore going to avoid talking about him and deny any interest in an effort to get Real to come cap in hand to sell us the player. The above scenario fits like a glove to Owen's comments today. As does Rafa's complete sidestep of any Owen questions. He's never said we wouldn't want Owen just that we need a CB and a RM and we have lots of strikers already.
  5. Disagree 100% Rafa Benitez wants Owen otherwise Owen wouldn't be coming here. Rafa isn't going to spend even £10m on a player he doesn't want. He went after Crouch in the manner he did because Redknapp held all the cards. He had no intention of selling the player and needed him for the campaign ahead (just look how So'ton are struggling sans Crouch). We had to prise him away. Owen is different because HE holds all the cards not Real Madrid. They don't want him and want to get shut, he doesn't want to ask for a move because he will lose his loyalty bonus etc. Thus it becomes a game of cat and mouse. We dont wont to get fleeced and Real don't want to be stuck with Owen. Michael has now shown his hand. He wants to stay at Real Madrid IF he's in the team otherwise he wants to come to us. As a last resort he will go on loan to Newcastle. Now the onus is on Perez. He has to negotiate a deal with us for the player. Rafa has played this perfectly. He desperately wants Owen as he sees what everyone else does. We have no one in this side who will guarantee 19 (for the benefit of the arachnid) goals a season. We need that player, Rafa knows that.
  6. Count me in on this as well please
  7. You remove the word full from that statement and he could be a Chelsea player. Signing tomorrow for £40m and the reason they have lured him is that he is being made captain and it will be him not Terry who lifts the league title in May. P.S. If you ignore the bit about getting in the top four but he may have thrown that in to throw everone off the scent.
  8. I wont quote it but cheers for the bit of info above. I still don't understand about cut off times but I'd better do some work instead I fully understand why those families who formed the HJC feel like they were sold down the river. I remember at the time thinking the trial was a farce but I didn't realise how much of that was down to the Prosecution !!!!
  9. Excuse my naivety but why are there two support groups for the families of Hillsborough. Don't flame me but I've never heard of the FSG although i have heard the name Trevor Hicks. Anyone ?
