I think Lucas Henderson Gerrard Coutinho Sturridge Suarez has legs, we didn't have that Arsenal at home, it give Johnson and Enrique the freedom of the flanks but as you say Gerrard is sloppy with possession. I was having a gentle dig as we were talking about signing the best centre backs in the world to make the system work, rather than making the system fit the players we have at our disposal. It's in his head, it's his raison d'etre, otherwise he doesn't say what he said when Swansea lost to Sunderland. He doesn't want to just win, he wants to draw pretty patterns on the pitch. I think that is getting in the way at the moment.

The Barcelona thing was a gentle dig at his obsession with passing the opposition off the pitch. If Gerrard doesn't have the energy for the system in the middle then he has to play as one of the front 3. He could be our Maxi ;-) I think Gerrard does just fine in a 4-3-3 as the 1 with 2 holding. You do lose some creativity with that though. I'm not sure Gerrard fits a 4-4-2 with bombing on full backs.

There certainly seem to be more of them, maybe that's why it feels like they are being harshly judged, because we are constantly talking about them.

Which, given two holding players would do just fine, in fact our current centre backs with two holding players would probably have done just fine. But Skrtel will be off now so the two changes are no longer optional.

Then we agree but unfortunately it seems the manager, can't or won't see it. I think it's the latter, he wants to be Barcelona. We are living in fantasy land if we think FSG are going to sign off two centre backs better than Agger. Not a chance we will spend that kind of money.

Whether we like it or not, I'm not sure that Rodgers commands enough respect off Martin to state publically that he made an Oldham player who hadn't scored in months look like Didier Drogba and get away with it. He's learning though ....

Does he though, as this is not the first time this weakness has been exposed. My problem is he is clearly learning on the job, not about managing Liverpool, but just managing in general, we have chucked this season into the bin for the sake of his plan. Lets hope it's the only one and these mistakes aren't still happening in September.

If we are going to play one holding player with two fullbacks who bomb on then those centre backs have to be Pique and Mascherano. We need two world class centre backs to cope with the space our midfield leave. Why not buy Tiote and have two holding instead, it's certainly cheaper?

That very much would depend on the replacement for me. I didn't want him, especially without a DOF but he's done ok, we look, and continue to look wide open though and I think Sangria nailed it with the glue, energy analogy. with two attacking fullbacks you can't just play Lucas in a holding role, he's f***ing good but he isn't that f***ing good. He needs help and he doesn't get enough of it from Allen or Gerrard. so you have to play all 3, every time, or play Henderson. To play two without Lucas is just f***ing bizarre. I can't see why these mistakes are being made in March?

Who are f***ing idiots, in a football sense, to put it simply. He was never the best candidate by any gauge of anyone who knows anything about football. He may go on to be the most successful manager we ever have, who knows. It's just as likely he wont, but we have no form to judge him on.

He won the Spanish title TWICE with Valencia, of course we were going to give him time he had a proven track record. The only question was would he be able to adapt to working in this country. Rodgers has NO track record, none, how the f*** did he become Liverpool manager?

I didn't realise the most successful Liverpool manager in history was mentoring Rodgers. Of course the two situations are worthy of comparison. Silly me.

FSG mostly appointing him was f***ing clueless. Not his as if he does succeed it will be on his own merit and it will be lucky for us as we will have some silverware again.

This is the single biggest reason why Rodgers should never have become Liverpool manager. Whether he is successful or not is just luck. He didn't have the CV, he shouldn't even have been on the f***ing list.

To be fair by giving themselves everything to do against Bucharest and a replay against United he's done all he can. Get through both those ties and carry on in the UEFA and he will have given them 5 extra games to play. 4th isn't on though as we wont overhaul 2 of Chelsea Spurs and Arsenal. 5th might be though and we need that for Europe next season.

I think there was a lot of spin coming out of 'sources' at that time and a lot of people started to talk about disharmony, player unrest, it's Rafa or the players. In hindsight it all looks like Purslow spin and those 'sources' were used to help create the disharmony not the other way around.

I now remember why I went f***ing mental on David Hodgson. Interestingly everything he was worried about happening happened, ironically though it was probably because we sacked Rafa rather than the reasons he was claiming.

Arguably he is the sole reason that they are European Champions. They get battered off the park and Drogba bails them out at the death. They have some very very good players but I wouldn't say there squad is on a par with City or even United. They should be capable of 3rd though with that squad.

I don't think you can make a factual statement about something that is ongoing in a past tense. He could win the UEFA Cup and FA Cup in a 6 month stint. Is that not doing well?

He could win the UEFA Cup and the FA Cup, he wasn't in the CL so couldn't win that. His only failure is not winning the league cup. That was a gimme and they f***ed it up. In every other cup competition they have done just enough to get through, sound familiar?
