  1. Exactly, when you have arguably the best attacking fullback in the league, it's a nonsense to put shackles on him, when you have Enrique on the other wing, surely playing two holding midfielders and letting those two bomb on is the right way to go. Playing 2 3 5 when we have the ball is going to be exciting, I reckon even Stoke would be worth watching if they did that.
  2. You said "Think you will have to get used to it long term, I don't think Rodgers is going to be pragmatic." Personally, I don't think that 'not being pragmatic' is a recipe for success, so why would I want to persist with a philosophy that disregards this basic principle. It's the basic building block for success, you become difficult to beat and then you expand the creative side. Moyes doesn't have the cash to compete for the best players so you can't judge him on the same basis.
  3. I am just not convinced that will win us the league, yes United blah blah, but nobody else does it that way. Everyone else wins titles by being f***ing hard to score goals against. So long term, I don't see it as a solution if we are building a blueprint that wont win titles.
  4. I've cut Brendan plenty of slack, I was concerned about these issues in December and was told we were on a good little run and should shut up, we have subsequently signed some very good players and our performances have improved immensely but the same issues remain. They were there when we thumped Wigan, they were there when we lost to S'ton and there when we beat Villa. We should have better control of the football match against the poorer sides. It's what good sides do. I worry that this will continue into next season and these dropped points will cost us a place in the top 4 and ultimately our better players. It this is what Brendan's philosophy of football is all about then I'm out quite frankly. If this is just a transition then fair enough but where is the progress in this area?
  5. Sometimes a team can control a game and be the better team and not get the result they deserve, it happens. I am critisising us for a problem that we have had for over 3 months now and see no sign of addressing.
  6. We look open, we leave space, player can run unchallenged, its a combination of things. Villa gave the ball away so much in dangerous positions and we looked really threatening, but when they weren't doing that their front 3 gave us problems. We give poor teams chances, for whatever reason, but we do. We shouldn't be doing that and it worries me long term.
  7. Bank holiday weekend might have something to do with that, people having to do other stuff. FWIW I am still not convinced. I watched the 2nd half and we still look dodgy as f*** at the back. Villa had lots of good opportunities, granted, so did we but why are we still giving chances away in games all the time. Compare that to the United Chelsea game where barely a sniff was given by either side. We are way too open, still.
  8. That's frightening. I imagine the exact same thought process was going on when we played City away. Don't panic, if we can hand on a bit longer then, oh dear, still 2-0 isn't game over we can still hang in there and then ........ oh no ....... <rubs face>.

  11. How many football master would we have without those last two, eh? And John Durnin, who signed him? (wiki says Kenny)
  12. Just use your f***ing eyes, use google, use youtube, then you no longer need to ask the f***ing stupid question Next week, from f***wit TV, why is Maradona one of the greatest ever, after all, he never won the Premier League. He and Marina personally attended every funeral. What he has done for this club and city far outstrips the title legend.
  13. Haha, those geordie t***s would rip your f***ing arm off to have those days back, yet at the time .....

  17. Smithdown made that up, surely, please tell me that's not real, from a manager, any manager, of any club anywhere, EVER.
  18. He's got a striker who has scored 20 league goals in the first week of March, and we are 7th. What would have happened if Suarez hadn't hit that form. Kenny didn't have that luxury last season.
  19. Exactly, we'd have forgotten the 'won't win 7 of 9', 'winning away at Goodison would be utopia', 'fantastic night in Turkey' if he'd just said 'Well having managed Cristiano Ronaldo for 7 years Sir Alex's knowledge of divers and cheats is second to none, but I'm afraid that being kicked to the floor by Johhny Evans just isn't a dive'
  20. City was tactically inept but his treatment of Torres meant he was dead to me. No Liverpool manager should ever behave like that.
  21. I think I'd like Rafa to get Chelsea past United (just to make sure the c**** are out) but not Citeh and then to the UEFA final where Chelsea get a succession of shocking decisions given against them and lose. I think I'd like this a lot actually.
  22. On the way into work this morning I was thinking, IF we keep Suarez and we have no European distractions then it should help our push for 4th next season. I think my expectations have been successfully managed. FOP I'm not sure how as Matty put the words in and everything. There's been some f***wittery about is more like it.
  23. It looked pretty against Wigan, thought we played some lovely stuff, and there was still lots of passing , and in particular a lot in our half in dangerous areas. I've not seen as much footy as I'd like this year and I take MOTD highlights with a pinch of salt but Wigan was great, properly great, yet we still almost conceded 3 goals in the first 20 minutes. From the games I have seen, I agree the sterile domination has gone, but the risk taking is still there and we still look wide open on the counter.
  24. It's as relevant as 'only just beat lower league opposition in the final'. If we don't beat the best side in the country we aren't in the position to struggle in the final.
  25. but put out the best side in England on the way ..
