That's fair, however, it is massively overstated how far we fell. Hodgson aside we are at a level that was the nadir of both the men before. One of them won a cup in that season, the other was fighting everyone in the club behind the scenes. Rodgers has everyone pulling in the right direction and has not delivered any real progress, YET. To sum up last season I'd say that his results have improved as the players at his disposal have improved. He needs to do more than that next season. There are other ways not to look foolish that is just one way.

How is he going to make anyone look foolish who says. He didn't have the credentials for the job I am not convinced that he has the tools to turn us into a contender. The people who look foolish are the one's bigging up 8 games undefeated which exclude cup defeats and only contain 3 victories. Arsenal won 11 of 14 in their run in and they won f*** all. That's the bar, that's the standard. We do that once next season I will accept Brendan has arrived. Until then I reserve judgement. On a positive slant Coutinho and Sturridge are great signings.

I actually think Napoli is a better gig. Less pressure to immediately win stuff and another shot at the CL as an underdog. Great move for Rafa. Winning the league in France would be like shooting fish in a barrel even with Monaco' return. Any manager who wins Serie A without CORRUPTION can feel a certain satisfaction of a job well done. Toure used to be a decent centre back, I don't know what shape he is in now but if he's cheap and takes a massive wage cut then I'm happy for him to come in as he has bags of PL experience. It's a matter for the scouts really to make sure we don't do a Cole J or a Poulsen C.

I'm as Rafa as the next man but you cannot say that Rafa is a better bet than Pellegrini. He's taken two unfashionable Spanish clubs firstly into the CL and then latterly to the business end of it. Rafa's great but Pellegrini got Madrid's highest points total ever and got the sack. I can fully understand why City might chose Pellegrini over Rafa.
