  2. But at the cost of a place in Europe, and an outside chance of CL football.
  3. So you wouldn't rather have paid a premium to get Sturridge in August last year?
  4. If you replace the words Andy Carroll with Robin Van Persie is it still good business? I'd much rather we had paid £20m for Sturridge on August 31st last year than watch our season disappear up it's own a*** in the first two months.
  5. We ended up with a single striker in August because of this strategy, our form from January was massively improved when we signed the player we had been after in August. These decisions can cost you 10 points and that can ultimately mean the difference between CL or not. I'd rather we spent a bit extra now to secure our targets and if that leaves us with a bit of a light squad then so be it.
  6. It is sensible until you go to sign the player than you have budgeted £25m for and his club demand £30m. I'm guessing the policy is we walk away and look elsewhere, I'm worried we are going end up short on Sep 1st again because the player we wanted wasn't available for the price we wanted. When we are playing Aspas and Borini up front because Suarez is suspended (I wish) and Sturridge is injured and we drop points that cost us a 4th place challenge again then would we not have been better off spending the extra £5m on the first teamer not Aspas?
  7. f*** Off Purslow
  8. We should have cottoned on to that as Wenger has wasted 5 years trying, and failing, to be Barcanal. It's not as easy as it looks especially when you don't have Xavi, Iniesta or Messi. Even Barca are finding it tough at the moment to be like Barca and they have got them. We've got f*** all chance so we may as well set our sights a bit lower.
  9. The problem I see with us refusing if the clause is met is that he will feel that we have not respected the clause, i.e. even if we have outsmarted him and his team by wording it as such that we are not forced to sell, he is in a position to down tools if we don't. The good news, if this is the case, is that he would have to hand in a transfer request and forego a loyalty bonus if we aren't forced to sell. Whatever the clause says he is gone if someone meets it.
  10. What is the point of the clause then?
  11. He's a bit of a t***, can't keep his gob shut? Thinks it will make it easier if he's been spouting off in public all summer. I don't know, I think he's long gone though.

  13. The clause is going to be there, the wording of it may not be known but I am sure the upshot of it is - specific club or clubs pay £40m Liverpool have to sell if player wants to go.
  14. Half, I reckon Ayre knew at that time that Suarez was leaving.
  15. I'll have a go Aspas Alberto Mhkitarin We've known he was off since the interview he gave that caused the fuss. I reckon that e-mail from Ian Ayre was real. I reckon Reina want's to leave as well and so we have replaced him before the sell too. Makes a nice change to get the replacements in first, saves spunking £35m on Carroll on deadline day. How much would Mkhitarin, Aspas and Alberto have cost us if we paid the 30m euro buyout clause?
  16. So it's a 'I'll scweeam and scweeam and scweeam if you don't sell me to Madrid' clause.
  17. It's also impossible if he does have a release clause. I think the club are doing the right thing, he's not for sale but we are getting our post Suarez business done before he leaves (or at least we are trying to). We know he is leaving if he has a release clause so cash flow aside, we know how much is coming in and when. Personally, the way this is playing I am convinced that Madrid are sorting out all their other deals as they know they have agreed terms with Suarez and can exercise the release clause whenever they want.

  19. We failed to get permission to talk to his agent, I don't mind the fact that we didn't sign him and he went to Dortmund, it's the reason that has been given, by the club, through the Echo was that the agent wouldn't talk to us. How do we get that far down the road without establishing that? Ayrestonishing

  21. Ok, so, there was nothing, in any press, at any point that made you think we were going to sign the player and in fact were favourites to sign the player. If he haven't been allowed to talk to the agent who the f*** have we been talking to for the last month. It's shambolic.
  22. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-fc-ponder-henrikh-mkhitaryan-4051190 http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-fc-must-pay-25m-4724202 http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/sport/liverpool-fc/liverpool-fc-news/2013/06/27/liverpool-fc-remain-locked-in-henrikh-mkhitaryan-battle-99623-33531120/ If we weren't actually in talks with his agent maybe we would have been better advised to not feed the Echo with a constant update. What new point, we f***ed up, either we were never in a position to sign him or we ballsed it up. If we weren't in a position to sign him would shouldn't have kept the Echo in the loop of every minutia of a deal that wasn't likely to happen. How can you announce that you weren't given permission to talk to the agent of the player who is being bandied around as your number 1 summer target. It's laughable.
  23. Don't feed the Echo stuff like this http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-fc-step-up-transfer-4307774 if you haven't been allowed to speak to his agent.

  25. What's clear is that whoever was doing this deal from our end was way out of their depth. These agents are tricksy little f*****s and this third party ownership stuff is a minefield. We clearly lost out because we thought we could just waltz over to Shaktar with some money and buy the player, very naive and costly. The 'Echo' piece is just Ayre shifting the blame from LFC's shoulders. I don't care why we didn't sign him, either shut the f*** up about who we are signing, OR, know that signing them is within your capabilities before you start mouthing off. f***ing idiots.
