Can you define performing optimally with regards to a football team as without this benchmark I haven't got a f***ing clue what this is all about. We were the 7th best team in the league, Spurs and Arsenal both got 10pts more than us, therefore if all teams performed optimally surely the status quo would remain. We need them to under perform because they are clearly better than us surely?

If we sell to Arsenal we nail shut the door to the CL, Bale to Man U would be the icing the cake. I would rather sell him to Madrid for £20m. It's worked, I'd pick Zidane up from the airport myself.

If there was a 'leave now for £40m clause' in his contract then he wouldn't sign a new deal with a £50m clause. It is safe to say that if he signs a new contract then the last one didn't have the clause he wanted in it.
