"I said to the boys before 'I don't think it's possible but because it's you I think we have a chance' - they are really mentality giants. It's unbelievable." That's just brilliant - he's not just telling them not to give up or whatever, but that they have the capability of doing something he doesn't even understand. How powerful is that!
That was the old Ronaldo, he's played through the middle for at least the last season as he has lost his pace/engine. The main thing Real need to replace is guaranteed goals. I don't think Mane gives them that and I doubt Salah is going anywhere after signing the new deal.
Good stats, apparently - and VERY good with his feet. Zero information about this in the press over here - and we normally get some idea that something's going on beforehand. I should add - played every game for Brighton last season and is considered a significant reason they stayed up.
And still we looked a better side when he played, even when he wasn't at his best. That Toshack quote from the article sums him up - "Everyone seemed to play better when he was on the pitch"
Totally agree with this. Everything I've seen of Klopp since he came here indicates this style - that's why Benteke's no longer here. In yesterday's game, he and Origi were interchanging positions which means that the one that's on the flank will need to do some tracking back, but it's not like he doesn't get to go central. Plus, the system is geared towards creating more space - that's not a bad thing for him. Think he's over-reacting a bit.
Yes, and I wish he would be more positive with the ball mid-pitch. He often stimies whatever flow we may have - not sure that changing that is something that can be coached.
I accept that they have made changes - I don't think that it automatically follows that they will all work, which seems to be the conclusion that some have drawn. Anyway, Liverpool Forum, so not talking about it any more
I don't doubt that he would have gotten games but he/his people may have seen a clearer path to becoming a regular starter at Dortmund. Good point about the next move - I think that plays a big part with talented youngsters in this day and age. If Mane was the fall-back option for Dembele, where did Gotze fit in to the picture?
The mental weakness aspect is mitigated by the fact that we've got no European distraction, allowing Klopp to thoroughly prepare the team for the next league game. I don't think that can be under-estimated when looking at Leicester's run last season - they were totally focussed when everybody thought the pressure would get to them. I like what I'm hearing from all the players about the intensity of our training sessions - I think we'll get off to a flying start, and just build from there as confidence and belief grows. We've strengthened our defence and our attack has shown that we can score. Think we'll challenge, too.
You might be right - he looks very good for his age. Thing is, he'll get games at Dortmund and may not have had as many opportunities with us. That probably came into the thinking when he chose them. We can get him in a couple of years. re: Mancs, doesn't look like any of their signings/links address their defensive deficiencies.
With this Kante buyout clause, what happens if club A bids 22 and club B bids 28? Can Leicester simply accept the highest bid or do they accept both and the player chooses?
Maybe Götze is waiting to see what else happens in the transfer window (particularly with us)? He may be prepared to miss out on the Champions League for a season, but probably no longer. If he leaves Bayern he would want a guarantee of Champions League football ASAP and whichever way we may look at it, for an outsider looking in we're not that guarantee.
Klopp can't throw him under the bus, he needs him for the next month - and since day 1 he has done nothing but show Mignolet 100% support. I'm certain that Klopp sees exactly what the rest of us do.
