Chelsea seem to be on a bit of a resurgence after their defeat at Everton with wins over Cardiff (lucky win), Brighton and West Ham. The irony of us having to play them at Anfield towards the end of another title-chasing season isn't lost on many (expecting Demba Ba's name to be sung louder than usual). Nothing but a win will do and it's time we did them over at Anfield after failing to beat them in Liverpool since the 8th of May 2012. Team? Same team as the win over Porto except for Robertson returning for Milner and Matip back in for Lovren. Alisson Trent Matip Van Dijk Robertson Fabinho Henderson Keita Salah Firmino Mane Bench: Mignolet Milner Shaqiri Origi Sturridge Lovren Wijnaldum
Solskjaer: “I hope & think Anthony will be ready & I hope Jesse will be ready because it’s two different injuries. So maybe more hope than think, with Anthony as well, but he’s got a chance. Anyway, we still hope Jesse could be ready. Let’s see”
Deloitte Football Money League (DFML) results are out. Some impressive figures for LFC. Liverpool experienced the largest revenue increase in the Deloitte Football Money League’s top ten (£90.6m) and are the highest climbers, jumping two spots to seventh (the club’s highest position since 2008/09) Report: https://t.co/LSB6D9KtCC
The heat is on. City are not going to slip up and we can't afford to either. Palace are a strange side capable of beating anyone (even City at the Etihad!). I'd keep the same side that beat Brighton.
We're missing our number 10 (Coutinho/Ox). As good as he has done so far, Shaqiri isn't one. Firmino's dropping deeper to compensate for the lack of a 10 and I think this is where we're falling short. Lallana's not up to scratch and he's the only option we have for that position (unless Keita plays higher up the field). I think we need to dip into the market in January.
A proper week to get ready for this fixture which always promises loads of goals. We threw away a decent lead the last time at the Emirates, and the season before we won 4 - 3. Their strikers are in red-hot form but their defence is still a work in progress and something we can definitely exploit. Except for the Ox, all our players should be fit and ready for this fixture. Does Klopp bring Gomez back at RB or RCB? Front three picks itself but surely Shaqiri deserves a start alongside Gini and "another" (Fabinho/Milner). My team? Alisson Trent Gomez VVD Robbo Fabinho Gini Shaqiri Salah Firmino Mane
Need to get back to prolific winning ways and facing Red Star may help. Although I feel Klopp may rotate the back 4 again (Trent coming in, and even, dare I say, Albie at LB). Fabinho/Wijnaldum/Shaqiri in midfield and Mane/Firmino/Salah up top.
Tough fixtures ahead this week before the unnecessary interruption of the 2nd international break. Liverpool play City on Sunday so Klopp may feel he doesn't need to rotate too much. Probably the whole first team plays again.
