  1. Mike Dean was also the ref for Stoke 1 Liverpool 2 last season.
  2. Don't mind Poyet but he was well out of order with the Coutinho red card comparison, as were Match of the f***ing Day. Not long ago, the guy who booted the ball at a player standing next to him would have been criticised for all and sundry for trying to get a fellow professional booked/sent off. In fact there have been occasions when players have been booked themselves for ungentlemanly conduct for exactly that. The first time it happened yesterday, nothing was going on until Poyet started going spare on the touchline and then the ref (who is a s*** btw) decided to produce a card. The 2nd time was disgraceful, it was an obvious attempt to get a player sent off and at least the ref showed some common sense then. There is f*** all comparison with Bridcutt who deserved both cards, they were not "soft" as MOD tried to say, he knew exactly what he was doing
  3. does anybody have a stream to watch the match?
  4. Tactically woefully inept. Their plan is to send long balls to the big striker to nod on to runners. That's it apart from running around and fouling. So when you know their big striker is gonna win every header what do you do to combat this approach. Is it (a) Put 3 players on the striker and leave all the runners or (b) to let the striker win the header and pick off the runners? BR picks (a) so what happens - Kenwyne f***ing Jones beats our 3 weak defenders EVERY time, Walters or someone else has a free run onto the loose ball and we are in the sh*t. Times that by 90 mins and we are still making the same mistakes in the last minute. Utterly clueless, BR is a rookie manager and has no idea of what to do in this situation. We have to stay with him but he needs to learn a lot, lot faster or we are in a downwards spiral that will put us back years.
  5. Ran straight down the tunnel after the final whistle according to Alan Green on 5live, leaving the rest of the team to salute the fans
  6. thought that would be the response
  7. How about a song .... Coldplay Paradise.... Jordan, Jordan, Henderson. x3 woooooo woooooooooooo
  8. The auto-ticket entitlement should also be based on actual attendance ie if you tick the box at the start of the season but then can't be arsed to go the FA Cup 3rd round tie against Southend or Oldham and ditto other rounds then you shouldn't get 1st dibs when the big games come round. That's the way it works for European away games. The official attendance for the 3rd round will look quite good but sure as hell there will be loads of empty seats because people won't take up their allocations
  9. I'm in London now, anyone going for bevvies before the game, if so where? Seen elsewhere that some reds are going to the Courtfields nr Earls Court but I'm staying in hotel near Kings Cross so that's a long way round
  10. Best player on the pitch for me, by some distance. Not been a big fan of his so far but it must be tough for him to see so many piss easy chances missed from his crosses both for us & England. Rodwell's miss was a real shocker ffs it was way easier to score than to miss. And if there is a lesson for us, it is to get more bodies in the box because Downing's delivery is excellent
  11. I don't see how anyone can argue that he's been anything other than poor so far. He has ability but the criticism of him over the years that he is mentally weak is starting to look well-founded. He hides in games, fails to take responsibility, is indecisive and won't put in any sort of a challenge when the opposition have the ball. The hope is that he will improve as his confidence grows and he becomes more familiar with his role and his team-mates. A Villa mate of mine said exactly that - he was gash when he first went to Villa but steadily improved and became their most consistent player. Some players adapt immediately eg Suarez but others take their time to fit in and Downing maybe falls into that category.

  22. Having Gerrard back changes the dynamics, I would prefer to start him v Everton in a 5 man midfield of Henderson Lucas Adam Gerrard Downing.
  23. Suarez is terrific but needs to work on his finishing
  24. I agree. We are way too slow in too many areas - Carragher, Skrtel, Lucas, Adam & Carroll for starters. We can accommodate one or two but Spurs were faster than us all over the pitch and first to every ball as a result. Enrique & Suarez have the technique & movement but we were found out yesterday by a better side. Desperately need a fit and firing Stevie G back plus either Kelly or Johnson.
  25. It was blatantly obvious that yesterday we reaped the whirlwind from Kenny's comments the previous week. Same as Rafa's rant - immediately, we stopped getting decisions (not that we had too many before). Refereeing union closing ranks - and we don't have the political clout of Ferguson (or Mourinho at Chelsea) where he can dictate to the FA and referees fear reprisals if they get out of line. That ref was out to make a point and it almost seemed that Spurs were in on it - the way they dived and made a big deal out of tackles plus their badgering of the ref flashing yellow cards in his face just to remind him of his duty. Sickening.
