To play devils advocate here... I said to a mate after saturdays win, that the ONLY negative about the win, if there even was a negative, was that we had to go a goal behind to start playing. Its something ive noticed about the team over the last few years, that in the face of adversity they rise to the challenge. However, more often than not, we will not be able to afford to go a goal down before we start playing, especially f the goal is scored against us late on in the game. We need to take the game by the scruff of the neck from the off. Anyway, im only just sounding off the negatives here, saturdays result was superb, the performance was even more satisfying, to then go away from home in the CL days later and win is also superb. A good thrashing of stoke now would really get the momentum flying.

thats pretty much exactly how my day went. started off in the oakfield, headed down and joined the march. I was well impressed with the march by the way and I'm so glad i was a part of it. then went into the kop and had a few pints before hand and then...the rest is history! Although, when babel scored, i genuinely thought i was having a coronary, i was jumping all over the fella beside me and screaming my lungs out and then my heart started going into serious palpatations! a few deep breaths and i was back to normal! it was a great bloody day. still got a spring in my step

exactly for what its worth, anyone who says hes not a central midfielder is wrong in my opinion. Nearly all his goals over the years have come from the middle of the park. his best position is in the middle but in a forward role rather than a battling central midfielder. Gerrards problem it seems ot me is that he sees himself as being in the middle of the park doing everything, getting involved in all parts of the play defensively and offensively. I believe hes better off concentrating his energy into the latter as he is incredibly creative and thinks yards ahead of most defenders and more often than not our own forwards. I think rafa knows that and is trying to restrain gerrard from trying to be roy of the rovers all the time and just stick to one aspect of his capabilities

I think playing Pennant at this stage would get the best out of him. surely he wants to put himself in the shop window after being given the option of joining Stoke!

exactly. and even if one did believe in this 'honours' system its all a bit self indulgent in my opinion. to go petitioning for one for someone about 20yrs after is also a waste of time, surely there are better things to do, and loads of other players would deserve one if phil neal does. hes not exactly known for volunteering his time and effort for free so dont bother wasting your time on this. ( i stand to be corrected on this point, but im only going on what ive gathered on here over the years) as someone rightly said, hes won all he needs to win. id rather have his medals than the crown of england on my head, let alone a bloody MBE
